Hood

I have bought many wrecks and the top "skin" IS FIBERGLASS and the undershell is composite, like the Fiero plastic body panel type of material.

I was about to post this exact thing Geno...thanks. I'm working on grafting a scoop to mine right now.

Bad day at the office Ray? :waving:

I just can not believe ppl are arguing on the structural makeup of the damn hood....come on now. I knew for a fact that at least part of it is fiberglas because I have worked on one, but what is it with the scientist(s) that need to prove their points.

No, it just gets a bit ridiculous JP....that is all....and i was not referring to you....

StraDog, did you use a Cobra R hood? I'm looking to have the same thing done on my car and I HAVE to have it by April. I measured the center section of the cobra R hood at the leading edge, the cowl and the length and it's more than enough for the Mark hood. I'm just wondering if I can get away using a Cobra Hood from a mustang or if I need to order the outer skin from on of the companies.

He got his hood from the same guy that I got the one for my old car from.....Larry at Legendary/FastGlas/Custom Creations. I am not sure if he is still in business or not. Several ppl have called him and he has not responded.

If you can not get in touch with him, what you will have to do is purchase a Cobra 'R' hood for a mustang and cut off the scoop. Then you will have to graft it onto the hood, and cut out the underside of the hood, and smoof it all out.

That is basically what I am gonna do since I want something a lil more custom than the Cobra 'R' hood.

I want one made from matching blue carbon fiber! With a nice scoop to clear the Kenne Bell blower setup underneath. Then line the inside with mylar faced kevlar to keep the pistons from shooting through the hood with 7 grand on the tach. How's THAT!? :L

I saw my hood when it got smashed. Geno is right. Its fiberglas skin with a composite base of some sort.

Here's your photo

Well I have your picture done with the Mach 1 intake but I don't know how to send it to you. I'm new at this. But the picture looks pretty

HOWEVER... I have been toying with the idea of a Mach1 intake and shaker assembly. But, I cannot find anyone to photoshop a shaker onto my stock gen 1 hood.....any volunteers? The idea sounds awesome to me, but like all ideas, until you actually see it, it always sounds good.[/QUOTE]

My Cobra R hood should be on my porch when I get home from work today! This has got to be the best 50 bucks I've ever spent.
How long does it take to cut and graft? I told my friend to get to the point where it's in primer. But the hoods are a dime a dozen here! And the cool part is, since we only want the center portion, we can buy damaged hoods that mustangers would turn their noses up to!!!
I thought about simply cutting the hood and letting a Kenne Bell poke through. Those are some nice looking blowers. I'd have sort of a 2005 Mad Max thing going. But then, so much for driving in the rain. It's for looks anyway, since I'm going with nitrous.

Look on Ebay for the scoop, I have seen them for $75.00. I would also shop around for a bodyshop. I talked to mine (does great work) and he said around $450 to mold and paint
