Just purchased an 02 LS V8.

How do I tell which model I purchased? (Sport or non-Sport, LSE, Base)

Thanks in advance for your help!
 
Take a few pics, and post them up. Exterior front, ext. side, and pic of shifter. Those would be the obvious ways. The LSE has a body kit, color matched rear license plate surround, color matched grille upper (those parts are chrome on non-LSE's)
 
The sport does not have chrome on the bumpers. The sport has a Select Shift Transmission.

Non-sport has woodgrain steering wheel, and woodgrain shift knob. The sport has leather shift knob and no woodgrain on steering wheel.

No sport model came with 16" wheels (at least I don't think so.) So if you have 16's, you don't have a sport.
 
There were mechanical differences between the two as well, but those would be harder for you to actually figure out as quickly as the obvious cosmetic differences. Such as larger diameter sway bar, sport shocks, separate oil cooler, etc.
 
thanks all for the quick replies; I will take some pics and post when I get home. I am asking because I need to replace the sway bar; and I don't know which one to buy. Just replaced the sway bar end links (which were in bad shape) and that did not fix the "clunking" problem.
 
Dunno... never drove a gen 2, so I haven't seen the differences between sport/non sport/ultimate versions.

Here is my sticker, notice it is a Sport with leather wrapped steering wheel...NO WOOD.

I added real burl wood after market.

For second gen the stickers for the attached images differs in a few ways.
1. The first sticker (2003) has moonroof, HID's, Advancetack, and many other options as standard equipment.

2. The second sticker (2004) does not have those options listed as standard equipment.

3. First one says "premium sport", second says "sport".

4. The attached interior pics have an aftermarket woodgrain kit installed.

5. To clarify the orginal question, first gen LS's came basically in two packages.

Sport-sport suspension, 17" wheels, select-shift trans, no chrome on the bumbers, and leather steering wheel and shift knob. (The LSE was a sport, with a bodykit basically).

Luxury- No select shift trans, woodgrain steering wheel and shift knob, standard 16" wheels, and chrome stipes on the front and rear bumper.

As always there were options you could ad to both models...

You have a sport. I have an 01 Sport V8 and by looking at your car everything is the exact same except the year. I learned something new too, didn't know that some sport models came with wood on the steering wheel or shift knob. I have leather on both.

only some of the 03+ sports came with wood. the 00-02 sports had leather.

I think the only real way to tell if it's a Sport or Non-sport - for Gen. 1's at least - is whether or not it has select-shift trans. My '02 V8 has 17" chrome rims, chrome bumper inserts (front and back), wood-grain steering wheel and shift knob, and the sport suspension (sport sway bar and sport shocks). Mine does not have select shift transmission. Basically what I'm getting at is because of the options, the only real way to tell if it's a sport is whether or not it has the select-shift transmission.

So, for the sake of replacing shocks / sway bar / sway bar bushings, it's best to look at the part number on the shocks. Even better would be to have the dealer, or Max at Five Star Ford, use your VIN # to determine what suspension package the car came with.

The OP's is definitely a Sport though (it has the select-shift transmission).
