Hi, I have a 2000 lincoln ls 3.9 V8, and I've been having problems with the hydraulic fan system lately. I wish to put in an electric fan to minimize repair costs as well as engine drag. Im pretty confident in my ability to install the electric fan, but I am not sure how to properly remove the hydraulic fan, without messing anything up. The majority of it looks fairly easy, but I see two hoses running into the radiator that seem to be connected to the hydraulic fan system. One runs directly from the fan, and the other runs from the Fan Coolant Reservoir. How do I remove these hoses without creating any problems? Or do I even need to remove them?

That's a combination cooler for the transmission, the fan, and the power steering. Each of the three has a completely separate circuit, so you can disconnect the fan hoses without there being any problem. (It's not actually into the radiator, the cooler is in front of the radiator.)

Thank you, I really appreciate that piece of information!
Would you by chance have a recommended order in which to disassemble the entire hydraulic fan system?
Also, I noticed that the part of the frame that connects the two front tires is directly under the fan. How would you recommend I reach the bolts holding the bottom of the shroud on?
And finally, how do I disconnect the line running directly into the center of the fan?

my hoses were put on with jack hammers! I never got them off! I just cut the hoses then removed the pumps.

there is a write up on replacing the fan on the v6 using a different pulley.

After you remove the fan pump, use a 100" belt.

Unless you are going to sell your hydraulic stuff, theres no need to un bolt the hose to the fan motor. Just cut the hoses and remove the parts.
