so i woke up this morning and headed out the door. its in the 40s out and a little cold. i get in the car and nothing works. figure battery is either super dead or cable came undone. my trunk release button wasnt working (probably due to the battery) so i got out to use the key. ONLY THAT WASNT WORKING EITHER!!! how is that possible? any ideas on how to get in my trunk? thanks a lot guys....

The key should work in the trunk unless it is the valet key.

Try wiggling the key a little when you have it in the lock, press down and lift up on the trunk slightly also. Just some ideas to try.

WTF?! i just went back out to try the key again and to get to the trunk releaase INSIDE the trunk via the back seat. the key still didnt work on the trunk lid (weird) but when i got in the car, all the interior lights lit up. so i tried starting it and it started right up, no problem. no idea what happened but whenever i tell people now it makes me seem crazy. haha. thanks anyways guys

Radio interference maybe, years ago I was locked out of my truck that had shaved door handles and I thought the remote just died so I had my brother bring the spare remote and it still didn't work. I was able to get it to work after pressing the button while pointing into the windshield. It never did happen again but I never went back to that same area again either so I am not sure what it really was.

It would be a heck of a radio transmission that could kill the whole electrical system of a car, and make a mechanical lock fail...

My girlfriend used to work at kohls, when i would go pick her up i would go inside and lock the car. Then when we would get back to the car, the fob would never work! It never happens except at that kohls, some sort of cosmic alignment of radio interference or something.

That's exactly what happened, the LED light still worked but I just could not pop the doors. Even had trouble arming and disarming the alarm, had to be right next to it to disarm it.
