how many 100k + LS' out there

2000 Ls

My 2000 LS V-8 just hit the 140,000 mile mark....

Just in case anyone is curious, I have done the following work on this car...

Of course I will not mention brake jobs etc, that is a gimme...

I had a timing chain failure, it happened @ 113,000 mile mark.....
I did this repair, and it has been running as good as new.....

Replaced both valve cover gaskets....

Replaced almost all of the Cop Coils...

Due to battery drain issues, I had to replace the drivers door module...

Had to replace the rear drivers side window regulator..

Had to replace the coolant tank, due to minor cracks that were leaking..

Had the passenger side front inside door handle break, and had to replace.

Overall I have been very pleased with this car. The only major issue was the timing chain failure, and this was not an easy job to do, but it is back to running like new....

I hope I can get another 140,000 !!!!

excellent. I have not been as lucky with mine. I am hoping to get all my luck on the backside of 100k miles. example... I have been through 8 window regulators and 4 tranny repairs! DEspite the maladies I still enjoy driving the car.

I feel Very lucky

I gambled, and so far it has paid off...

I am noticing alot of folks have been having tranny repairs...

I am still on the original tranny WITH THE ORIGINAL OIL !!!!!!
Still shifts smooth..... Right now my car is running as good as it
did when it was brand new ....

that is fantastic. the last repair defintely has lasted a lot longer the the previous 3 and if I have to do it again I will either buy a new tranny and get the warranty that comes with it or try to crossover to a manual tranny.

I am undecided

I am not sure what I will do if my tranny starts to give me problems..
Considering my car has 140,000 miles on it. I myself would seriously
consider just installing a new tranny. I know they are expensive, but I dont' want to have to go back mutiple times, because it was not repaired, or put back together the right way.... I just don't trust the mechanics thats out there these days. I used to do mechanic work for a living a little more than 20 years ago, and believe me I don't see many good mechanics any longer.
Most are only parts changers.

I am with you only I do IT work with a short mechanical background. The parts that were installed to fix my LS set me back 900 dollars last time. Considering a new tranny is about 1400 I am confident that if this tranny gives me crap again it is getting voted off the isalnd for good.

I will figure out how to do the job myself if I have to but as you I have seen enough shop time to come to know that the day of mater techs doing your repairs are over. Now the master techs just supervise, at least they do where I am at, and they have newb wrench turners that are hardly better than what I can deliver maybe worse if you consider I give a :q about the job getting done right.
