I am new to this forum, and my main reason for joining is to gain some knowledge on the lincoln ls v6. I own a 2001 lincoln ls v6 with the manual transmission. I purchased it from the original owner at about 74k miles. I currently have about 89k miles on it. I have owned the car for about a year, and im wondering if i should try to sell it.
So how many miles can i expect to get out of the car before it starts giving me major problems?

89.5...just joking. it seems some owners have very few problems with their lss while others have nightmares. id say a lot of it has to do with how you treat the car. dont floor it at every green light, let the car warm up before any hard accelerating, and change the fluids. i cant speak specifically for the v6s, and more particularly about the manuals, but they can be fairly reliable cars. my 2000 v8 was (and now im looking for an 06).

01 V6 at 101k

Runs like new. Gotta baby the car or it will fall apart.

It already has given you its first major problem....resale.

Other than that I'd say 120-150k

there's a guy on here that has 200k on his LS, i think it's an 01. and there's plenty of forum members with 00-02's that are well over 100k. it's all about how you treat your car in its mid-life stage, when things tend to get rusted, corroded, cracked, etc etc... if you take care of problems as soon as they arise and don't put them off, and if you are good with preventative maintenance, you should definitely get well over 100k.

I have about 75K on mine and I have fixed the window, replaced the battery and put about $2500 in the suspension and had the ac compressor replaced. This all fell under the extended warranty so I guess its not too bad. Listen for the front end noises and brace your self for the bills.

Does anyone know the life expectancy of the clutches???

That kind of depends on what you call a major problem. Some people think of a bad alternator as a major problem. To me a major problem is something like a rod going through the oil pan. :p

Most clutches wont last much more than 100 to 150k miles, depending on driving style. But the car should last as long as you want to throw money at it.

not sure because it is always in the shop................................:p

i have 116k LS6 and pretty much i'm taking care of all the problems / issues that come up right away

I have 72k on my 02LSV8. Purchased in July of 05 with 58k. The first repair was a bad hose on the hydraulic cooling fan. It was a bitch because the oil leak would find its way to the exhaust and when you pulled up to a stop sign smoke would roll out from under the hood, not cool coming from a Lincoln...lol
Ended up taking to the Ford dealer.....$60 for parts and $260 for labor.

The other repair was the rear drivers side window. The electric window motor still ran but the cable was all hosed up. I found an entire assembly from a company called ZBRA in Louisiana and paid $109 which included shipping to Findlay, Ohio

Right now I only drive it about 5k a year, its sits in the garage with a cover on it so the damn cat doesn't scratch the paint!
