How many miles on your LS

The wife was asking me last night how many miles her car would last... I told her it depends on how you take care of it... its going to have issues like every other car that were going to have to fix when they crop up... but I'm curious... How many miles are you guys getting out your Ls's How many miles should we enjoy it before thinking about selling it before it becomes a money pit... We have 63k on our 2001 right now...
 
I've seen over 250K so far (not on either of mine, I'm at about 14xK on one of them).
I think that it's more a question of years than miles. Years seem to be what kills the plastic and soft parts. Also, it's a question of how long you can get repair parts. If you could get repair parts forever, your car could be maintained such that it could go millions of miles.
Anyway, my general rule of thumb is about 15 years is practical.
 
Mine has 116k. It's been a moneypit since about 75k. But that money pit is smaller than a new car payment. Plus it's fun to tinker.

Fair disclosure: my tranny was replaced at about 65k (warranty - long story) and a reman motor put in at about 80k (bonehead service rep started it before new oil had been put in it)
 
my 02 has 136000 original motor and trans... both running strong. knock knock. no major issues to date (other than coils) .. my 00 has 140000....
 
WOW! Great mileage!
My 2000 died around May 2010 with IIRC 146K miles.
My 2006 is going strong with 76K miles.
 
207,853 on my 2000....and could go a lot longer. Runs exceptionally well.

In 2 weeks I will be at zero miles. :).
 
I've got 114K on my 02 LSE. Getting ready to replace the stock T-Stat Housing (small leak) with the Aluminum Jag one. So far, no major issues.

My plan is to run this car forever!

Start an inventory of hard to find parts now if u truly plan on keeping it.
 
2000 3.9 V8
Bought in 2002 with 32,XXX miles.
Currently has 66,XXX miles.

Repairs:
Coils twice
Passengerside front ball joint & lower control arm
Driverside power window switch
 
04 w/ 101k miles. It's about to eclipse my truck when I sold it. :shifty:
