I searched this. There are just too many results to find it.

I'm in the process of replacing the valve cover gaskets. My plug wells on the passenger side are full of oil. If I remove the plugs that oil is going to go into the combustion chamber. How do you get the oil out OR does it matter if the oil gets in there. Just want to be careful.

It's better to stop most of the oil from draining into the cylinders. Basically, you need to siphon it out. You can use a squeeze bulb type pump or some other type. You could also use a shop vac with a small hose at the end of the big hose, but you'll have a little clean up to do afterwards.

Failing any of that, just get a bunch of paper towels and wick it out of the wells.

The few drops that are left over won't hurt.

I've tried the paper towels. I got some out but not enough to feel comfortable pulling the spark plug. I'll try the shop vac. I'm not sure why that didn't occur to me. Thanks!

Update... The shop vac wouldn't fit in the hole. My little girl said I should turn printer paper into a tube and put that in there. It worked. Clean as a whistle.

LOL

now you can start a new thread, "How to get oil out of the Shop Vac"

if its that much oil (id be surprised if its enough to make a difference) get a brake bleeder hand pump and suck it out... $25ish from any parts store... a few drops shouldnt hurt anything

Very messy.

Place blow nozzle in wells and cover with towel..
My wells were almost completely full of oil.

OP, I would NOT want any of that oil, or worse, the dirt and other **** that is in the oil, to go into the cylinders...
