Hurricane Sandy: Members Okay?

Just spoke to my Father who lives in the lower(upper) elevations of WV. He is at about 1500 ft. 13 inches of snow and it still coming down strong. 2000 ft has 18 inches and who knows what the highest has. LOL.

We're getting beautiful weather here in Florida after our little brush with Sandy last week. We were in the low-mid 50s all morning, sun is shinning, not a cloud in the sky, and high in the low 70s here!

Hope all our friends in NY/NJ are doing okay!

Update. Dad's info was bad. He is Georgia and got it from his girlfriend who exaggerated. LOL. Talked to my friend who lives at Snowshoe. 15 inches there. Still more than enough to have fun on skis.

Man, half the country loses power and it gets a little slow around here :D

Check out the pics on Mr. Twister's fb page. Sh** is crazy.

Brooklyn tunnel that connects to Manhattan, still has water to the ceiling. Some devastating stuff.

Yea, it's pretty bad.

Wow... Has anyone heard from mlara? Cant remember if I've seen any posts from him? So many people are out of power though that its not too surprising

All good here. Thanks for the concern. Still out of power and a bit of damage to the house, but everyone is ok, which is all that matters.

We had I-68 in Preston County shut down for roughly 18 hours. About 14 tractor trailers and other motorists just got stuck the snow was coming down so hard, the national guard had to use humvee's and 5 ton trucks to get those people out and to shelter.

I got called out today/tonight since all the other troops were out when the storm hit and lord they needed sleep. Some towns I still can't get too with the 4WD Durrango, 4WD doesn't help when the tires don't touch the ground ya know.

Some snow drifts in Aurora we reported to be over 3 feet deep. Last I heard dept of highways was trying to get a bulldozer out there.

Hungout with Martin Savidge for a few minutes today. He is a reporter with CNN and was in Kingwood reporting all the snow. Their truck with the huge dish on top got frozen in the up position so they were kinda stuck in the wal-mart parking lot in Kingwood.

Chris. When I was a kid we lived on a mountain range in upstate NY, Clinton County, when the State Troopers got stuck on the road they would hike to our house to spend the night. Woke up many a morning with a State Trooper sleeping on the couch. My mother would leave a pot of stew on for them, during the winter. Prison guards also.

I was in cleveland two days ago when it all first started, insane. I was just watching people holding umbrellas, wind would gust, the fabric of the umbrellas were blowin down the street and they were stuck just holding metal....the storm and the casino kicked my ass

Our prayers are going out to all of those affected.

If any of you have family in this area (NY/NJ/CT) I hope they are safe and made it through Sandy with minimal damage. I was VERY fortunate as my block was barely impacted and I personally never lost power, or had any trees come down. I dont live near the water, so flooding was not an issue - but most of Long Island was not so lucky. :(

My 06 LS (formally Rich88LSC's) has been without a garage since July (lost use of my neighbors garage), but after a layer of moving blankets, a layer of cardboard, a layer of vinyl drop cloths, and a car cover, along with being parked in my tree-less backyard - she came out just fine.

Again, my thoughts go out to all of those impacted, and if you have a second check out the two links below (they were from the day after Sandy) - what a dam.n mess

Thanks for the links to the updated stories with pics, really puts things in perspective.

looks terrible in Breezy Point, Queens, New York.

Nice job on packing the LS away and keeping it safe.

All the best to everyone affected.

That's the Battery Park underpass that leads to the FDR and the way I make it to my office by the Seaport. Pretty crazy stuff. I've been without any kind of power since Monday and just now am seeing pictures of the havoc this storm caused. Good Lord.

Yeah man, we're all fine. Thanks. I'm just on the other side of the Zone A evac area so the Bimmer is fine albeit it FILTHY. lol
