Hydraulic fan

New to lincolns...How does the Hydraulic fan work?? I heard that it works in conjunction with a pressure plate, but what actually drives it?? As you know one can't see anything towards the front of the 3.9 engine..Thanks, Just curious......

It works off of a pump very similar to your power steering pump. If you look under the hood you will see a resivoir on either side of the engine, the passenger side is the fan, and the drivers side is the power steering. Both opperate off of power steering fluid.

Yes, Mercon V in both reservoirs only, no power steering fluid.
