Okay here's the deal. I have a 2002 LS8 and the right, rear passenger door will not open. Not from the inside, or the outside. This has happened before and the stealership fixed it for like 1 hundred some bucks giving me a deal so they said. But apparently they havent fixed it, so now I can't get my door open. I need to know how to get the door panel off of the door from the inside with the door closed. If anyone has the know how it would be much appreciated. Oh yah, one more thing, I am soon to be taking it in to have the VC gaskets done. Smelling rubber and seeing smoke just like so many others. :) Only good part is, I have an extended warranty and they said it was covered. Ya me!

Thanks for your help in advance, really need to fix this door. It's so annoying.

I dont think thats possible to get the panel off with the door closed. Theres 3 screws at the bottom and an like 2 on the side that would be pretty much impossible to get to. Correct me if im wrong.

It sucks I KNOW

Went on vacation and took the ls, same thing happened. just to give you an idea, Im 5'4 and I have some damn small arms. What you have to do is take off as many screws as you can. You will only be able to get 3 off. behind the door handle and the 2 inside the cup. Pop off the top of the door panel, its going to be hard, be patient or you are going to mess it up, now you have to reach inside with a wrench and take the door handle off. Good luck, took me about an hour to get two nuts off. HaHa thats funny <. Once you get the door handle off you can 1 get lucky and pop the door open or 2 break it apart like I did and buy a new one. Just so you know, I took it to about 5 locksmiths and they wouldnt touch it. Good luck, post again if you need more help.

Oh yeah 1 more thing, your child lock is almost impossible to see, but if you look at the door that opens, you will see where it is at, check this 1st, I doubt you will be that lucky though.

Do you think its possible to just reach in there and pull on the cable that actuates the latch or is that not how this door works. I am going to try it tomorrow and see what I can get to happen so hopefully I'm lucky. Only problem is, I'm 6'2'' and 220lbs and have pretty good size arms and no patients so this is going to be exciting. I might just be posting for a new interior door panel when this is all over. LOL

Thanks for your help and I am gonna give it hell.

Usually what happens is, Your door latch, the part that actually holds the door closed, it is spring operated, when the spring breaks nothing is actually activating the latch to pop open. You know when you use your finger to flip the latch and you pull your door handle and it pops up or down, thats whats not happening. wouldnt be such a big deal, but the whole door latch assembly is enclosed, thats why i had to break mine apart. had to break it enough to pop the linkage open. call your dealer and see if the panel or the door handle is cheaper, sounds like your going to need a new latch assembly no matter what. also double check with the dealer and see what they did last time.
