I hate mark viiis!!!!

Have fun with the water pump leaking and taking out the Optispark.

Come on people!!! This is a LINCOLN board! We don't need no stinkin' GM junk on here! :p

The only good thing I can say about the '96 Caddy Fleetwood is that it was the last big, REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE Caddy with a full perimiter frame chassis.

I've owned a 1993 and a 1995 mark viii.

I'm going to give you one piece of advice... That's it... Sell one of your cars, I'm assuming it would have to be the one with the blown motor. Sell that damn Cadillac. You will regret it sooner or later & buy yourself a Gen II.

You are frustrated because you needed a change. A Gen II is just what you need. Sometimes you get fed up because well, cars are cars & these things happen. With a Gen II & after fixing your '93 you will have both Gens. Trust me you can't go wrong that way.

Trust me a 96 Cadilliac is not a step up in any way. You will find out. . PS while your at it just walk into a police station and yell some terrible comments about police. Oh and if you don't mind take someone to video tape it for us :D PS again Please invite Ed Hall to join you.

I am not a troll. Sorry if i offended anyone. The mark viii is a good car. I owned them for 1.5 years. The reason I brought a lt1 fleetwood because I use to own a lt1 buick roadmaster and that thing was a beast and way easier to work on. It was big and fast. When I got rid of the buick roadmaster, I decided to by a big and fast coupe, the lincoln mark viii. The Mark viii was a very good coupe until I started to change the sensors like the iac, o2 sensors, and intake gaskets. I quickly started to dislike the car. Since I owned the lt1 buick roadmaster and noticed how easier I could work on the car and build the lt1 to produce more horsepower with less money, I decided to go with the lt1 cadillac fleetwoood.

:Dwe use to scrap cars at the dealership i worked 4.we sold 4 caddys n cut up 20 of them. the best thing about cutting up is they do not come back, sell one and have fun with it start a poll on how long before its back n it will b back. but this time it will bring a tow truck with it!!!!!!:D:D:D:D:D:p

I don't quite understand where you get that the 4R70W has more HP loss than the 4L60E. I've always seen the 4R70W to be one of the lowest loss OD trannies out there. And if you follow that earlier advice and change to a 4L80E, you'll see even higher HP & MPG losses.

My Mark VIII gets over 30 mpg on the highway on a daily basis; I've never seen that in a Fleetwood!

I am not a troll.

Well alrighty then:)

Sorry if i offended anyone.

Well...you are on a LINCOLN MARK VIII message board talking $hit about Mark VIII's and about how you went to the dark side and bought a Caddy, the arch nemesis of all things Lincoln:D:p

The mark viii is a good car. I owned them for 1.5 years.

The Mark VIII is a GREAT car. I've owned/driven/worked on/cussed at/and absolutely loved them for over 12 years.

The reason I brought a lt1 fleetwood because I use to own a lt1 buick roadmaster and that thing was a beast and way easier to work on. It was big and fast.

I don't doubt it was fast. They had something like 260hp from the 350 small block, I think. Not bad. But still a GM car. At least it was Rear-Wheel-Drive.

When I got rid of the buick roadmaster, I decided to by a big and fast coupe, the lincoln mark viii. The Mark viii was a very good coupe until I started to change the sensors like the iac, o2 sensors, and intake gaskets. I quickly started to dislike the car.

Really:confused: You started to dislike the car because a couple of sensors were hard to change? I really hope you don't think the Fleetwood will be "easier" to work on just because it's an old-fashioned, body-on-frame tank with an archaic pushrod engine in it. Every car is going to have some component somewhere that's difficult to repair/replace. But seriously, that's no reason to just throw up your hands and give up. If I knew I was going to just throw my hands up and quit working on a car when it got "difficult", I'd just have to ride a fargin' bike. Gee, my car's hard to work on, guess I'll go get another one and hope it's easier...

Since I owned the lt1 buick roadmaster and noticed how easier I could work on the car and build the lt1 to produce more horsepower with less money, I decided to go with the lt1 cadillac fleetwoood.

Well. More power to ya. And good luck with that.

Let me know anytime you want to run that Caddy I'll meet you more than half way and I'm running a stock 1993 engine with some add ons :)

JTM... No hard feelings, problem is you should've made a left when you made a right on LVC street. This is the correct address.

PS: I'm busting your balls, I like your car. I'd own one if it had ultra low miles, senior owned & SUPER cheap price. I'd give it to the wife.

Let me know anytime you want to run that Caddy I'll meet you more than half way and I'm running a stock 1993 engine with some add ons :)

Don, you run him supercharged and I'll run him all motor and we'll both beat the Caddi. LOL If it's not the 556hp CTS-V it's a waste of time. I love it when I also hear the guys with the 4.6 Northstar from the late 90s talk chit about the Mark VIIIs. It's like yeah ok cracker, let's put the gear in it and the 7K rpm shifts and see how long the motor lasts. Give me a Northstar and I'll blow it up in one day.

Just left my buddy's shop and left rubber strips far exceeding anything your Caddy leaves even if it was tethered to the Space Shuttle --- just sayin'! :)

Would that be the Northstar engine of what ever its called? The ones that are guaranteed to blow head gaskets if I recall.

I almost made the same choice before finding the Mark VIII. I did not want an old person car.

well he said lt1, thats not a northstar.

the northstar was rated at 300hp.

Yup, but you just couldn't win with Caddi during that era. Either you had a 5.7 with a lousy 260hp or a Northstar with 300hp that leaked oil all over the place and blew the head gaskets before 100K miles. I think that's why Caddi has now redesigned everything since and has a better reputation now.

the northstar was rated at 300hp.

Technically it was barely 300 hp at some points over the years:

1993 Cadillac Allanté 295 hp (220 kW) @ 5600 rpm 290 lb·ft (393 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
1993–1994 Cadillac Eldorado ETC 295 hp (220 kW) @ 5600 rpm 290 lb·ft (393 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
1995–2002 Cadillac Eldorado ETC 300 hp (224 kW) @ 6000 rpm 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
1993 Cadillac Seville STS 295 hp (220 kW) @ 5600 rpm 290 lb·ft (393 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
1994–2004 Cadillac Seville STS 300 hp (224 kW) @ 6000 rpm 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
1996–2004 Cadillac DeVille Concours/DTS 300 hp (224 kW) @ 6000 rpm 295 lb·ft (400 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
2005 Cadillac DeVille DTS 290 hp (216 kW) @ 5600 rpm 285 lb·ft (386 N·m) @ 4400 rpm
