Yesterday while I was changing my rotors on my 1993 Mark VIII I discovered that my rear calipers need to be replaced.

When I took off the Driver's side rear caliper I could not compress the caliper to place it back on the new pads and rotor. I didn't even try the passenger side. Fronts were no problem at all.

After a taking off the caliper and trying to compress it in a vise I could not get it to budge. Totally seize up!

Where is a good place to get an affordable set of calipers. I'll be calling Maxx tomorrow to see what he would charge. If anyone has a good place to order calipers please list.

I've been told not to use used calipers. Let me know if this is true.

Ummmm... they don't compress, they rotate.

:I There's a special tool for it. I recommend removing the caliper to do it to make it easier. You can get the tool from any car parts place.

i agree.. i tried with that stupid cube thing they sell at parts stores.. its worthless!
next time i do pads, i will buy that set..

That's the same kit I used, I couldn't even imagine using something different. For some reason I'm thinking that they need to be turned counter-clockwise to retract, anyone confirm this?
