my 96 mark 8 is almost stock, all ive done is remove air silencers, and modified stock exhaust, it has coil springs. i want to spend about $300 on it this christmas. i could get some 4:10 gears and install them for $100 but i dont think i should til i can get an aluminum driveshaft. im only interested in performance upgrades right now. i will do the looks and audio upgrades late. any suggestions ?

i have a 1 piece 93 drive shaft that looks brand new, its not, but its very clean. slap new u joints on it and throw it in with the gears.
its on egay
Item number: 260318309861

who sells the sniper tuners for our cars ? i havent seen those.

i wish you had a buy it now price on that driveshaft

Not to cost Jamie a sale here, but my 93's original driveshaft isn't smooth enough for my taste with 4.11s, starts to give me a massage around 80mph. It acts about the same as my old 94's 2 piece shaft did with stock gears. I'd still recommend an aftermarket piece if you do much driving in the higher speed range...

If I were you I'd just save up another couple hundred, do a 255 fuel pump, and spray it.

or at least do the 255(the stock pumps tend to die slowly costing performance and possibly an engine!) thats how I got my parts car cheap the intank hose split leaning out the engine burning a valve! a complete tune-up w/new plug wires can really wake up a mark viii!!!!!!!!!plus get better milage to boot.

medium did you put new u-joints on it before putting it on? alot of people buy used 1 piece shafts and throw them right in, for the price of u-joints, and the labor of installing the driveshaft, it would be stupid not to change the joints first, i'm not saying you did this, but some people have no common sense, it wouldnt hurt to have them balanced before putting them in either. i'm not worried about losing a sale here, its on ebay, i cant keep any of them when i put them on ebay, it will sell reguardless.

Actually mine is a 93 Mark, I believe the previous owner did new U joints at the same time as the gears (and a lot of other work on the car.) I will likely replace them myself to be sure whenever I get around to doing a built trans/stall.

ive already done plugs and plug wires. i should be getting that 93 driveshaft and putting the 4:10 gears in soon and i will go ahead and replace fuel pump just to be safe before i get a tuner

i will go ahead and replace fuel pump just to be safe before i get a tuner

That is a good path to follow, it will save you from trying to troubleshoot a bad/weak fuel pump after the tune.

Great idea, more should follow your path!
