Ok, i want some hid's on my car, i think it will give my car a better look. Instead of buying te conversion kit, can I buy factory HID light assembly and put them on my car?

I have an '03 with HID's and I'm always worried about them getting stolen. It's turned into a real epidemic in NJ. I never feel right leaving my car parked anymore. For the small increase in visibility and the larger risk of damage from thieves, they're not worth it and my next car won't have them.

Dude, don't give in to them! Pay your insurance premiums and live life, not hide from it!

Just my opinion.

They're just not worth the hassle of paying the deductable everytime some lowlife crackhead wants to rip them out of the front of my car...I mean, really!...how much is it worth just to look cool? I have more important things to deal with. .............Shout out to Hockey from N.B.

Ric, people would really try and rip your hid's out the front of your car?? isnt that hard to do?? cmonnn nowww, thats crazy... if people around there doin crap like that, i dont blame ya, i wouldnt get em either

That is precisely what they're doing. It's been all over the news here lately. One story was about some scumbag working the parking lot of the Continental Arena near Giants Stadium. He had, literally, ripped the headlights out of hundreds of cars, not only removing the lights, but damaging the fenders in the process. These things are like gold to chop shops. I'm happy for you that you don't live in an area like this, but I can't believe you haven't, at least, heard of this happening.

So, my '06 has HIDs and my '00 (obviously) doesn't. I know I can't tell the difference by looking. The HIDs on the '06 look exactly like the non-HIDs on my friends '03. These crooks must know what cars have them. They are mainly getting ripped off M-Bs and BMWs, right? It's easy to tell these cars have them with their projector lights. The LS isn't so easy.

I say enjoy the much better illumination and don't worry about it. I know I won't go back!

...prolly not stolen. I'm sure the owner simply removed them because he wanted to downgrade to standard headlights. Buy them...put them in...you prolly won't get them stolen too...the cycle continues.
Can never be sure, but removing the headlights units from an LS although a simple job, is not easily done on the street or in a parking lot. Too much stuff must be removed to get at them and the hood must be up.

The news article I recently read indicated the theif or thieves don't care much about doing a neat job. Many cars were left with the bodywork ripped open to get to the headlights.

I think I'm just going to upgrade the bulbs to Hoen and leave it at that. Is there really that much of a difference?

If you don't feel comfortable don't do it. But the factory HID's look almost identical to the non-HID's. so I don't think that a crook would take the time (since time isn't on their side) to bother with factory LS HID's since it's not the projector style and you can't just rip them out or they would be useless because the tabs would break plus they would get stuck with some useless non-HID lights because they look so much alike. And the hood definitely has to be up on an LS to get them out without breaking the tabs.
BTW the difference in the lighting from HID and Non-HID is night and day.

I wasn't happy with the light output from the hoen's or silverstars they had the right color but the stock seemed brighter as far as light output to me but there are a lot of poeple on this form that love em' so you might be happy with them but they don't come close to HID's as far as lighting up the road

well to be as discreet as possible.. i know ppl that steal them.. they dont go for the LS.. not that its not worth it.. but u cant distinguish between an LS that has HIDs and one that doesnt.. the cars that u mainly go for are maximas.. acuras.. porshes.. and some caddy's... if u look at the LS is has a cover over the light.. so u really have nothing to worry about..

i had my HIDs stolen tonight.. only cause i had em on my fogs and some lil kids wanted the bulb.. its stupid.. but i think the car looks great with them on.. :/

Not the greatest people to be associated with, especially since you know about it. I'd advise them to stop, they're gonna catch the raw end of the stick one day, guarunteed. One member on here caught someone messing with his wheels, and the guy had to be sent to the hospital. Personally, if I catch anyone messing with my car, I won't stop until I have their teeth in my pocket and I break at least two limbs. Smack those morons in the face and tell them to wake up.

i was dating his sister.. and he was arrested with 9 pairs.. each pair was 2 diff. arrests.. breaking entering and something else.. long story short.. they tried to give him 1 year per pair.. but since it was a first offense.. he got 1 month per pair.. so he did 9 months.. but ppl still do it here.. its so easy to get and move.. about 150 on the street for a pair.. and i have ppl asking me about it 3 times a day..

well would installing the OEM HID;s be a pain? I mean i cant see someone stealing my headlights over taking out a window and stealing everything that i have in my car. I think hids make a car a car.

Just added OEM HIDs to my ride a few months ago. Not a big deal, just have to remove the upper and lower black covers that are under the hood. Two fasteners are a little hard to get to if you drop them (on both sides toward the outside of the car). The rest are easily visible. Also the job goes easier if you loosen the fasteners that are the next ones inboard from the ones that hold the units solid. After that it is just unplug the original units and plug in the HIDs. (Assuming you have a 03+ LS) Older models need a heavier plug and wires.

Installing them into a pre-03 is no fun at all. I did it about 8 months ago or more and I wouldn't do it again now. Modifications need to be done to the bumper supports which really is no big deal. However, the wiring is a real PITA, but the finished product is awesome. I have pics in my photo garage.

Yeah i have a 2004 LS, so its just swaping out the assemblies? if its that easy im all for it. Any one want to trade 2 hid light assemblys + some cash for my my regular lights???:) :) :)
