Ok everyone or just that someone who can HELP ME

I am getting this 1506 code. I have sprayed carb cleaner on intake and found what I thought was a vacuum leak. Replace all intake gaskets. Still came the code. Replace IAC, Still came the code. Checked all vacuum lines no problems. Still the code.

Car is 1997 Mark VIII 048482 miles
Yes I have Genes ecu chip in it.
And I had the MAF and cleaner in but took them out for now.
HELP ME PLEASE

Some times when you replace a sensor you need to unplug the battery to reset the computer to get it to work properly.

had the EXACT same problem with my 98 a couple weeks ago. Heres what you do. Disconnect both battery terminals and touch them together. Sounds bad but you are just discharging all the capacitors for the pcm keep alive memory.

Do it and your fixed . I fought this for months.

i will remover battery again and see. I passed smog but without a final approval becasue I did not get all sensors reporting back to pcm. so he said to drive a few more miles, (need 60+) for complete sensor reporting time out. so I filled up with gas bought car wash and was off. 200 feet outside smog station Check engine on again. LOL. I am having way to much fun with this. LOL.

Cobrastar Thanks. Just for your info. another way of doing what you say is to disconnect the + and turn on headlights to drain the keepalive memory tot he PCM. or step on brakes anything to put on drain. This is a good plan and I am out to do it now. but headlights or brakes is just safer for most people. But since you did it and I will because I do not want to go thru this anymore.

Will Post results here later. Thanks all who responded

Ok Friends

I just drove the car 64 miles on the freeway making uturns every 15 miles up and down the freeway. and at every offramp I stoped the car turned off engine removed key got out and ran around car twice. LOL 8 times total. Got back and no check engine light, (KNOCKING ON WOOD) We will see in morning at smog station.

Thanks for responding so fast today. I really needed this completed. if it is I am only 4 days behind sechedule

I couldnt beleive it was that easy. I replaced my iac and it ran WORSE!.

Then for about 2 months i got 12 mpg around town and decided i was sick of it and checked every vacuum line. When i looked at my battery i just thought about me never diconnecting it. Damn wish i would have done that sooner.

Well Cobra, You have a friend here for sure. You can take some joy in the fact that someone else had an easy time from the info you passed on. And I owe you one. I still have to go to Smog station today and pass. but 65 miles last night is making me think we got it.

Update to follow in about 2 hours

haha well make sure all your monitors are reset. I am a certified inspector as well and if your monitors are not all complete(takes a few drive cycles). So make sure to take a couple of short trips, or just turn the key off during your trip and restart it and you'll be good to go..

I have another question for you if you don't mind. I changed my rear gears and added a posi, ? is should I turn off the traction lock

you mean traction control? if you do, i turn it off everytime i start the car.

I always have turned it off. It is annoying when it kicks on. So since day one, i have turned off traction control when i get in the car.

but yes, try it. Its much better with it off.:)

Well friends NO GOOD. I went to smog shop and he ran pretest. found not enough time driving to clear sensors need 60 + in town not freeway. And so I left to drive more .2 miles later check engine light ON. same code 1506 and now a pending code of 0174 I am getting well I don't thinkI need to say 2357=0-1275`2-r057`24-0yh

yes my idle seems to be high but not knowing what it should be can't be sure. What should it be?
and otherwise it runs good
I did replace the intake gaskets and the iac is new. All vac hoses look good. I did last night redo battery connections. they were not very tight. any IDEAS of what to do now.

idle should be around 950rpm at a cold start up, and go down to about 700's.

what is yours at?

Like mine, i would start it up and it would go to 2000rpm right away.. wayyyy too high

it goes to about 12 to 1500 and then down to around 800 after it partial warms up. It sometimes feels like it is lagging when driving and it wants to stay at speed. I am so confused right now. if you want to call me my number is in my profile

Alright I have a few ideas....

Unhook the brake booster vaccum line and plug it up tight and see how the car runs, they can leak internally and are very hard to diagnose... but it is a possible source for lots of leaks....

Also regard your TC question, gears and a track lock will have no affect on the function of the TC, it only cares about front vs rear tires, not side for side on the rear.
