IAC Overspeed Code 1506

ok I will try the brake boost vac plug.
where else could a vac leak just start.
It is 1997 and it does not get driven much maybe 4 times a month. It is low mileage I think 48k.

Lots of places on these cars, the imrc's can leak... there are a number of hoses on the top of the intake that can leak...

On a low mile car though most of that is unlikely...

i just replaced all intake gaskets and before I did i had sprayed brake cleaner all around the manifold and found that at the drivers rear of it i would get a stall and then reup in the idle. So I pulled it all apart and replaced the gaskets. then still there so I replaced the IAC. still CE comes on. and it is wierd I'll tell you. I need to replace motor in my truck and need this done so I have a legal car before I start the truck project. I have everything I need for the truck brand new crate motor and all items ready to go.

If it was around the IMRC plate you could have a leaking one... hmmmm

I would give it a seafoam treatment, see if that helps, how did the IMRC's look? Do they move freely?

they move freely now., they were gunked up alot. cleaned them good and put it all back together. and then sparyed again no change now

Well anyone out there tonight got another BIGGER PROBLEM. I drove the car home yesterday and it will not start now. Turns over and looks like good fuel pressure. I checked the switch back by air ride sw.

ANY IDEAS

unplug it and plug it back in, see if it starts, if so you need a new one. its behind the ac compressor.

Marks are great cars when they run right.... but can quickly turn into a nightmare when they stop running right.... I hope you can get these issues sorted out.

I just replaced all Th intake gaskets and while it was off I gasket matched and opened the intake runners on the manifold. I also opened up the throttle body. All of which I have done before and numerous vehicles. I had heard a vac leak from back drivers side of intake. Thus the gasket replacement. I did not hear it after. I am still getting the damm 1506 code. ANd it iw weird becasue it seems to pop up .5 mile after I leave the smog shop. And no matter how many miles I drive it 30 67 or 80 it is fine going in but right after the code trips. I do understand now that it needs around 60+ miles in town not freeway. Ok I learned here. But drove it home and parked it in same place as always and then next day went to got to store and it would not start. Spins great. Checked the switch in trunk. ok there. and now the other things. But I do not know where to find and fix the damm 1506 code.;

OK disconnected the crank sensor and tried to start. no luck. reconnected it and it started right up. Just like you said. SO kewl. I am glad I am a member here. Thanks Geno for turning me here. OK I will replace snsor. a quick ? 4 u. Should I replace the cam sensor at the same time? 23 for cam and 25 for crank.

I need to find it on the engine and see if it is as easy as the V10 if so I will replaced easier to wash hands once. LOL Thnaks now I need to find vacuum leak so I can stop this frackin 1506 code

y motorcraft only as I am sure the local store does not sell OEM Will have to wait until tomorrow for OEM. calling to verify not OEM at local. I do not buy from Kragen or autozone Only real auto parts stoe

Well I only put OEM sensors on my cars... just my preference....

I also buy from Max at 5 Start Ford, great guy!

I am in CA. and my local shop is great and my Ford parts guy send me here all the time when the OEM parts are just to expensive. THinK I will go withthe local ones for now. I need it done today anyway.
Thanks for the quick replies. Any ideas on the 1506 problem.
