Hello fellas.

Lately, I am having a problem with my LS. The car shuts off sometimes when just started up after driving some time. If I put my foot on the gas then turn the engine on it doesn't shut off but still. Any ideas?

Arthur, it definitely sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere. When I had my V6 back in 00' there was a hose on the back of the engine by the drivers side firewall that would split and leak. I think it was for the PVC valve but cant be sure. Also when is the last time you replaced your fuel filter, something could be clogging that as well.

Pop the hood and listen very closely for vacuum leak, thats how I found mine. Good luck!!

Thanks man, I am probably gonna do that. I changed my gas filter recently.

I think the PVC valve was a common issue on the early model LS V6's. If you pop the hood and it sounds like a plane turbine that would be it I think.

Ok fellas, here is an update on my problem for those who might be experiencing the same:

I removed the idler speed control module and cleaned it with a carburator cleaner and that solved the problem.

when you say "idler speed control module" do you mean the IAC valve on the side of the throttle body?

similar problem

Although my issue doesn't invovle stalling I am experiencing a similar problem. I have recently replaced all coils because of a miss. However after warmming up a bit the car will run rough when sitting at a stop with tranny in D. The only spot that I will get any kind of miss running is between 1325 and 1500 rpm. Does not miss under acceleration though. Had CEL before the coil replacement. Gone shortly after. You guys are always a great source of info. Any ideas ?

I am sure that's the same part.

Maybe, but try cleaning the upper/lower intake manifold, new gas filter and clean the fuel pumps, might help.

I cleaned my intake manifold and the engine started running smoother. I did the same on my V6 Mercury Mystique and I got a huge difference as the car was running really, really bad.

You can open them, I removed mine once, and cleaned it, but there is one little bag like filter on it that would be better to replace, but I have no idea if dealer sells it seperatly.
