Hey whats up everybody, I just brought a 90 Mark VII LSC with 110k. I have a few questions.

1. Where is the pcv valve located at? is it internal.

2. When I start the car up i hear and see the air shocks raise up, but after about 2 mins or so i still hear the pump going. Is that normal?

3. I read the post about the orange wire and regrounding it, does this also affect the tachohmeter cause somedays the tach works and some days it dont. Whats the deal with that?

4. I think i need a transmision also, the groumet for the TV cable fell apart and i didn't know untill one night i was riding and got up to about 45 mph and all of the sudden the rpms started to shoot up but no action from the trans, but if i drop it in D everything seems to be ok. So do i need a new trans. (also i did replace the groumet)

Sorry for all the question and lil reshearch but sometime u wants anwser fast :Beer :L

First, Welcome to the Board.

Second, to answer question 2 it sounds like you might have a air bag leak. I would mix up a little dish soap and put it on the bags and solenoid and see if you get some 'bubbles', then go from there.

:W to :V I'm sure you'll get your answers to your questions.

I would post them in the Mark VII forum and tonight Old School will give you all your Mark VII answers you need. He's great when it comes to those Mark VIIs, so are many other members on this site.

I would agree with the Moster that you have leaking air bags. You will want to change them soon or convert to springs. Info is available here.

Welcome.
Before I answer your questions, what have you done so far?

Nothing other than change the oil, replace the powersterring hose and a new battery.

** When my headlights are on my tach don't work but when they off the tach works just fine?**

I had the same problem with my '90, and after I put a new gas tank in it(had no relevance to the problem whatsoever) the problem went away by itself... The tach worked fine ever since then until i sold the car close to a year later.

Cool Cool. Do a search ofr <ground orange wire lincoln mark VII> for a complete answer.

Rear of the lower intake. You'll need a 2" long drywall screw to remove the screen.

No. You may have a leak in the system.

Yup.
The deal is that they are one and the same problem/fix.

If, after replaceing the gromet and then driving the car for more than five minutes over the speed of 15 mph, the transmission still slips the you may need a rebuild ... not a replacement.

Okay, for the ground wire fix, I found it to be easier just to pull the intstrament cluster and run a new ground wire to a ground plate 15" away in the dash. I tried pulling the kickpanel and found that finding the proper orange wire to be a real chore, there were multiple orange wires in the 1.5" bundle of wires.

Three days ago my mom told me the her 91 MkVII was shifting "funny" and not pulling in overdrive so I drive it and looked under the hood. I found that the TV cable bushing was gone and the TV cable was just hanging there. I took my car and bought a replacement bushing from the dealer ($2.38) and installed it. The car now drives fine in 1st-3rd gear, but still doesn't pull in overdrive.

I took it to a trans shop and they confirmed my fears. Overdrive is shot after only a few HOURS of driving with the TV Cable not hooked up properly.

The car only has 70k miles on it! This is definatly something you want to replace with the metal bushing!
