Hey Guys,

Well I finally have had time to get this LS up and running to get rid of her and it appears she just doesn't want to go bye bye.

Lizzy 4 or 5 as I like to call her is a 2000 LS 3.9 with 148,000 miles of fun amazing nights and some long horrible days working on her. I think I've replaced coils way too many times on this creature but here is my current issue. First some background.

P/S Secondary chain and tensioner, electric fan upgrade, 2 new intake valves (I cheated and replaced the tensioner only at first, well dumb dumb me). After sitting for a few months due to her reliability being often questioned during hot steamy summer months here in St. Louis and I've replaced way more than I should list, anyways after sitting it wouldn't start due to a bad fuel pump, replaced it along with the CHT sensor (probably my 3rd or 4th time removing the manifold), new coils, new spark plugs (motorcraft) and a new battery and this naughty girl now idles like a cammed mustang for some reason., once revved up she has all the power she demands yet disappoints once shes idling again.:shifty:

I've checked spark plug gap, vacuum leaks, MAF unplugged (its only a yr old) now I'm starting to second guess myself and thinking of replacing the intake manifold gaskets and start from there on up, again. I need to replace the D/S secondary chain and tensioner anyways. Coil and Injector connectors aren't in best shape (don't click) so I've pushed them in to hear if idle regulates but nothing?!?

I get (P0171) Bank1 too lean and (P0175)Bank2 too rich codes which I'm just lost unless of course Lizzy doesn't want to part ways with me and is trying to hold on in anyway possible.

Any ideas? I'm replacing the fuel filter, again. Personally I think shes jealous of the Town Car and Passat (needs new oil pump, next project )

Awww lizzy loves her owner I think when I lose joyce my 1993 lincoln towncar my heart will break in two and she my first so she will be remembered I wish all the best for you and I hope lizzy finds a good home

I'm often just thought of junking her! Too many headaches, sometimes all at once and ultimately I've felt like I WILL NOT LET HER WIN! Hahaha I will get her fixed and she will be once again reliable enough to sell to somebody but every time something new arises. My sister has an 06 LS8 and its been reliable.

Haha yeah I hope she does run again and make a good car. I know very little about the LS models my friend has one i got to drive it and it felt weird because it has nearly 50/50 weight distribution I was used to my town car how heavy it was. I told my friend it's like driving a lazy boy recliner.

The LS???? Don't think so!! The Town Car; that's a whole other story!

LS4 allow me to rephrase that statement I meant driving my TownCar is like driving a lazy boy recliner. The LS doesn't have anything on the ride of a Town Car. And the LS has the cool factor it looks good to younger buyers like me. Hehe probably the best looking Lincoln of the 00's

I would think a gasket like mentioned. A burnt valve can give a car a rough idle like that. Maybe do a compression test before pulling the intake if you can't find a vacuum leak.

If the idle is rough enough, you could pull the power to the coils one plug at a time. Whichever cylinder you pull that affects the idle the least, is going to be where your problem is. That is where you need to run the compression test.

The 2 valves were replaced in 2011. No issues back then but I will test compression to see what it reads. The only hose that I "can make leak" is one of the two on top of the throttle body, if you're standing at the front driver side wheel looking towards the motor its the right hose on top that feeds the booster, evap equipment and also goes to the intake tubing. I sprayed throttle body cleaner on various vacuum hoses yet heard no idle acceleration.

Any idea what the compression should be on this?

I'm awaiting to receive the tensioner and chain I ordered to dig into the driver side valve cover. Also I will dig everything back out and reinstall new gaskets in the slim chance that perhaps I've snagged a gasket either on the manifold or throttle body.
