ok, so i don't know what to do. i have a 96 mark 8 and i just bought a cobra intake for it. i have read up on the swap a little and i have seen that cobra IMRC are electronicly controled campared to the marks vacuum. i have heard about controlling the imrc's with the window switch but i really don't want to do that. so my question is can i delelte the IMRC's? i know they keep 2v's closed till 3000rpm for low end tourqe and you should not get rid of them unless you are supercharged but i am hoping my t56 and 4.10's can make up for that. right now if i launch i am only under 3000 for like a sec so would i even notice that they are gone if i delete them? what do u guys think and how many of you have done it?

Well I have been thinking a lot about this, and NA, keep them.... boosted, delete them....

The real reason I want to keep them is that when you are cruising on the freeway they are closed, has to help gas mileage...

that is a good piont about gas milage. arn't u puting in a cobra intake KK? what do u plan to do about your IMRC's? are u going to use a window switch

o so gen 2 IMRC's are electrially controled too? if i swap in gen 2 IMRC's and the gen 2 contraller will my car's comp still be able to oberate them?

No... there is no provisions in your wire harness or computer... you will need to get a window switch and wire it up....

damn well thanks for alot the help KK. i guess i will just deletle them and hope for the best. i heard lonnie built a relay bord or somthing for his gen one but that sounds kind hard.

Lonnie also converted that car from OBD1 to OBD 2.... that car has some very very complicated work done to the electronics... I don't even want to THINK about how much time he spent on everything....

I forgot his name on the board but his name is Sean has his IMRC deletes and with 3.73s and a stall has 60'ed under 2.00. I plan on deletes when the PSR Cobra intake goes on.

I have seen dyno comparisons on deleting the IMRCs and you do lose a couple HP under IIRC 3200rpm and pick up maybe 5hp on top. If your doing an intake swap and plan on or have gears already I would delete them just for ease if installation and no chance of them giving you problems down the line. A would consider a tune mandatory but that should be done anyway with gears and intake swap.

Definitely will need to modify the tune... there is a ton of little things that are in the tune that work in conjunction with the IMRC's.... spark is a big part of it.

I am gong to clean my extra IMRC's and knife edge and half shaft them....

alright well i should be ok then i got 4.10's and a t56 i was just scared of taking them out cuz i know a cobra intake loses you low end power too so i did not want to do both. so u guys think i should dump the IMRC put on a cobra intake get a tune and i will be fine with the mods listed in my sig?

It will work.... you are in a vastly different situation than most of us having a manual... running your car at a track is a totally different deal....

alright thanks for all the help KK maybe when i put my cobra intake on i can do a write up for the gen 1, and u could do one for athe gen 2 and all of these Q's can be put to bed.

What rpm are you spinning at 80 in 6th gear? I bet you can go with a good amount more gear.

There are a lot of people doing ported short runner intakes. Done right the low end loses are very minimal and the PSR/deletes should be making power by 3000rpm and will pull past 7k. That being said buying the first PSR Cobra intake you see on ebay with 3/4th of the runners hacked off is not going to give you good results. And a tune is mandatory.

yea thats the thing i probaly have like 10 different links on my desktop for info on cobra swaps from like 3 diff forums the info is there but its scattered and it's like putting a puzzle together lol.

thats a problem i have rich with my t56 my speedo does not work, i will be doing like 30 and my speedo reads 140 lol. i know you can you can fix it i just havent really looked into it i was actuallty about to start another thread on fixing my speedo but i guess we can use this one. so who knows how to fix my speedo lol?

Hmmm.... I gotta look into that :q:q:q:q, I don't remember if they had the new style VSS.... Mike (94M5) put a Tremec 3650 in his 94... You might drop him a PM about gettig the speedo set up right.

yea thats what i was thinking of doing if only i had a gen 2 there would be not problem lol.

I dunno but I think KK is on the right track start with the VSS. Also did you do anything to correct for the gear swap?
