Info. on duals for a Navi

I talk to a exhaust specialist at Meinecke Mufflers here in Milwaukee, and he said to just go with a single muffler exhaust system. He's done a couple of Navigators and said they sound GREAT!! He also told me to go with the Flowmaster exhaust, 50 Series muffler. He put a 40 Series on a Navi and it was to loud inside the truck, so I guess if your looking for volume thats the way to go. He really doesn't see any other way to install dual pipes than if you take your spare out. I'm going to keep checking around at more custom installers, but I might just be sold on the single system the way this guy talks, we'll see. Later everybody Jay

dual exhaust

I have a 1998 beverly Hills Motoring Edition Navigator. I have a Tri-Flow Exhaust with Headers. So they do fit .
 
Do you have any pictures of your exhaust from underneath so I can get an idea what it looks like, if not that fine, but dual pipes will fit on this truck coming out the sides or straight back?
 
Today, I just spoke with a mechanic at Meineke (car care center) he told me that the dual exhaust can be done without moving the spare tire.

He said the pipe would just go around the spare tire and go through the opening by the air bags or rear suspension. (I don't know how to explain it because I don't know much about cars.)

Thanks Paul I also went to Meinecke and they said the exact same thing, I'm going to go to one more custom muffler shop in milwaukee and see what this guy says. According to him on the phone he can do it and has done it on a Navi. I will post back whenn he explains to me how and shows me. Let me know when you get that front end conversion I would also like to do that, where theres a way theres a will, I bet it can be done, later Jay
 
Duals may look great, but keep in mind one thing. With true duals you will lose significant torque due to the lessened restriction in the exhaust. Most people think that a more free flowing exhaust will add more power. Well in some cases that is true, but it in the case of the Ford's 5.4l and similair size engines what you get is usually less off the line feeling.

Check out www.f150online.com under the exhaust section and you will see what I am talking about. The only time the duals make sense is if you are making insane amounts of power. The other option is if you want duals is to have the shop put in a constrictor in each tail pipe. This often brings back some of the torque.

A third option would be to buy a cat-back system, such as a Borla and have the shop make you a custom single in- dual out tail pipe exiting on the one side. I have seen these and they look good, plus you will get a full stainless system. Good luck.

BTW a lot of people that have duals like them, but most of those people bought the truck with them on, so they have little to compare it too.

They can get this all back...plus some in most cases...if they will install a true X pipe...or at least an H pipe.
