Ok, the interior needs some work and a custom paintjob to the interior pieces will help. Can anyone give me some advise on how to get these interior pieces off ( for instance: The rear panels in the backseat, front panels on doors, panels around the lock buttons, etc...) I want to know in advance so I don't begin to pry em off. I know how to get the shifter plate and the radio/climate dash off correctly. I need some help on removal of the dash pieces by the gauges and lights ( all the parts that can come off to be painted.)

When all is removed, which is the best way to go about painting the pieces? I would first need to remove the rubbery layer first, I know of that. Then sand with a fine grit, then primer em', then give a couple coats ? Maybe even add a clear coat ?

I want to get the interior lookin' decent. Any info/advise will help a lot. Thanks for your guys time. :Beer

Good luck on this. I asked this question a little while back and didn't get much of a response. Only thing I was told was to use oven cleaner to get the coating off.

I did the climate control and center console not to far back.

Step 1 : I used a plastic removing tool so not to scrape or damage pieces.

Step 2 : I used Gunk-Off to remove the plastic coating, I believe someone else said to use oven cleaner for this part.

Step 3 : I painted them with a semi-gloss plastic adhesive paint. I tried glossy but it was to glossy and took away from the interior.

door panels and rear pieces romoval I have no idea, sorry. The part that surrounds the guage cluster is just a pop out piece, the whole thing over to the passenger airbag, on a Gen 2 anyway........the pieces that surround the door locks and windows I just taped around, as well as the pieces in the door that are wood grain......the pieces around the door handle simply pop out as well, but they have a wire that connects to the light in that piece. After removing these items or taping around them, and getting the rubber coating off, I sanded with 400 grit and primered, painted two coats and she was done. Let dry for no less than 24hrs. and reinstall.....viola, new interior. Do not do it on a humid day, or the gloss will haze badly.

What brand of paint has plastic adhesive paint? I have looked, with no success.

Krylon makes a plastic adhesive paint in a can called, fusion. There is another brand that I forgot the name of, that was designed for basically the same thing. Hope this helps. Derrick.

Yeah, I saw that, but they don't apparently make it in flat black. You say the semigloss worked fine?
