Hey Audio Guys,

I did this 5 years ago with a F900bt but honestly forgot everything I did.

A few questions:

1. I am only going to use the sub amp and not the center speakers. Which blue wire on the 70-5521 do I use? There are two on the little one with the RCAs and one on the bigger adapter.

2. Do I need to do anything with regard to the tweeters in the front door?

3. Is there a diagram for how to hook up the ASWC-1 anywhere?

There will probably be more, but I need to get these going pretty quick.

Thanks everybody!

OP

1. The one that goes to pin 4. The factory wire color is yellow/red.
2. Factory speaker? Then the crossover between the mid-range and the tweeter is built-in to the speaker assembly.
3. The White/black wire on pin 18 of the 24 pin connector is the steering wheel analog input. Black/red on pin 19 is the ground for the steering wheel analog audio remote.

Thanks Joe! I know you have posted some pin out diagrams here but for the life of me I can't find them today. You have any links handy?

Thanks Again!

OP

Also, do you have the diagram showing where the VSS wire is?

Sorry to ask questions that have been answered, but I just can't find the post with the diagrams.

I can't wait to see pics of the install and user review of the headunit. I saw this one on a CES preview and it really peaked my interest even though I'm an Alpine guy.

Will post pics this weekend. I had to button up the install before I got the steering wheel controls figured out. (Thanks Joe & Loud) for all your help.

I still have to hook up the following:

1. Steering wheel controls.
2. Modify illumination wire. The unit doesn't change with the headlights getting turned on. I am going to install a switch to allow either auto or manual.
3. Hook up the Speed wire.

Eventually a reverse camera but am going to wait until the fall for that.

Opinion so far:

All in all, I really like the unit. Anxious to try carplay. The Navi has been much better than I expected. I had an F900BT and the Navi was awful.

The only challenge I am having is getting the EQ adjusted. The speakers have a metal tinny sound. I have gotten a lot of it worked out but still tweaking.

Wondering if the Pioneer tuning Mic would be a worthwhile investment. I need to see if I can find the speaker specs with crossover points to help balance the speakers out with a flat EQ. There are tons of adjustments but I just haven't had the time to really sit and listen.

as for the illum wire... run a wire down to the ashtray. there is a wire down there for the light and it only comes on when the headlights are on so it is perfect and works great. I wouldn't mess with a switch...

Hey guys, no, sorry. I took some pics at night but they were pretty bad. Been working a bunch the last couple weeks so haven't spent much time with it. Will make another attempt in the morning.

Finally some pics of install:

Still need to get steering controls hooked up plus mod the illumination so it automatically dims.

Biggest issue is still EQ. Been playing with crossover and EQ quite a bit but am struggling. I have some experience in running sound but just am not getting to a complete sweet spot. Need to look at an analyzer and mic to auto adjust or manually adjust.

If anybody has any recommendations for that, I am all ears.

Looks nice.

On a somewhat related note, does anyone know if it'd be possible to buy the stock Sirius antenna from a dealer or wherever, instead of having to use one of those aftermarket ones? I don't even know what the stock ones look like, but I assume they look nicer.

Do you mean for the stock headunit? It's only an option if yours has a "SAT" button on it. (THX nav does have a SAT button, it is just hidden until one is installed.)
You need more than the antenna, you also need the satellite radio module and a harness adapter. This was all available for a while (for gen II, at least), but I don't know if any are left. Looks of the radio module don't matter at all, because it installs behind the dash, no one will ever see it. All control is through the existing radio display and buttons.

I have all the equipment needed for Sirius for the '06 LS that I pulled out of my LS a yer or so ago. Don't know if it will work for the 04-'05..... Price is right!!!!
