iPOD adapter help on 02 LS w/ Alpine

I am the recent receipient of a FRDN/PC-POD2 adapter. I am here to tell you that the instructions are really lacking!!!! They show you need to hook up the adapter harness and a +12V constant and a ground cable. What they do not tell you is which one is which. The two cables to choose from are gray w/ black stripe and a silver spade crimped on the end and the other is green w/ black stripe and a brass circle terminal on the end. I am assuming the green cable is the ground but want to know for sure. Also does anyone know of a good tap in source for the power line?? Evidently the cigarette lighter is on a switch and turns off when the ashtray is pushed in (or so I am told). Thanks for the help!

for power, i used the power wire to the deck.

i installed a similar adapter in 1 hour

I've got mine wired to my cigarette lighter power, no problems. 02 LS8
