I don't have those dumb stickers so don't ask about that lol, it's all from the factory, I'm just curious if the wood is actually wood or is it like fake plastic or something.

its plastic, well at least most of it. i know when i parted my LS out all the wood grain was snapped in plastic pieces. ex. above the glovebox idk about like the steering wheel but rest for sure plastic

1st gen is wud, vice the steering wheel and shifter knob. 2nd gen is wood.

My dad insists that it's real walnut. Its a gen 1(2000)

use a small flat tool to pop out the long piece above the glove box, you and him can take a good long look at it from every side and decide for yourself. there is nothing wood about 1st gens trim (trust me, I've had one and its solid plastic)

03 and newer have american walnut.

Its a technique called hydrographic printing. The run the part through a layer of film on water. You can buy home hydrographic printing kits. Go to mydipkit.com. You can change the pattern to about any thing you wish.

So will gen 2 trim fit a gen 1?

I believe a couple of them will. I say believe because there are on parts of the car that didn't APPEAR to change with the generations...(I've never tried it, so I cant confirm) IF any of the are interchangeable, the three pieces on the dash itself would be them, the long piece above the glove box, the piece around the ignition cylinder and possibly the piece around the headlight switch (I have no idea if there were any changes made to that area with all the switches...) however the pieces on the door panels are completely different and 2nd gens dont have a piece of wood trim around the ashtray (actually the entire area is completely different)

then having all that real wood all around the fake wud would just look silly...

I agree! I guess I will employ "plan B", that is to say I don't have a plan B. I have toyed with the idea of painting it a black textured matte finish.

You could also get a wood overlay kit off of ebay.
