is this a B-29 bomber?

Another amazing bomber the B-17 seen with one of it's favorite friends.

I love that picture!
I had an old friend/customer who flew the B-17 in WW2, and when he was done with that tour(25 missions I believe), he loved the guys flying escort so much, he went and flew fighter escort for another tour!
B-17, then a P-51D, all in the same war!

Hey, show the Hellcat some respect too.
Don't forget the Wildcat, either. I have a painting of Joe Foss's F4F-4 on the wall in my office--signed by General Foss himself, no less!

B-17 FTW!!!!! my grandfather was a b-17 pilot, and his brother was a tail gunner, sadly he watched his brother die.
my parents live about a mile from a semi small airport, that has huge air shows, we loved watching everything fly in, and practice. also the lima lima lima's are stationed at that airport, so they are always out somewhere
heres some airshow pics (from out near where i live now) http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/showthread.php?t=33283

In the montage, the first one shooting down a meatball was a Hellcat, Not that I like radial engined fighters (stick finger down throat gesture here) but the Wildcat basically didn't have a good angle, the Hellcat on top of being a vastly superior aircraft was a better design.

Corsairs, ehhhh, another bloody radial engined design, it's like they all start out looking like a huge drum with a prop stuck on it and the design is limited by that great huge lumps shape. Inline engined fighters are slick designs, they could be lighter and more agile.

The Mustang A model/A-36 Apache/Mustang 1 are hardly discernable spec wise unless you can see the dive brakes if I'm not mistaken. After the Merlin went in, well it became quite something else.

Some more excellent inline engined fighters, fighter/bombers.....

The De Havilland Mosquito:

Supermarine Spitfire:

and the lovely Curtis P-40. Couldn't find a B-model, E-model will do.

If you look closely, you can see the port dive brake on the A-36 in the picture. ;)
