Is this an example of wrong minded thinking?

I cobbled this together with some spare parts I had laying around. Do you think
that MAFS will live in that engine compartment? It sure seems to get awful hot
in there. Im wondering if I should just go back to the old air box configuration.
Are there any pitfalls to this arrangement?

That needs to have a heat shield if you keep it. General consensus is that the arangement adds nothing horsepower wise to the car (you might lose power) and that the stock box minus silencer is the best setup.

Im going back to the original setup. I dont know what I was thinking.

it will siound better...I did the same thing but there is only a heat sheild around the K&N and the MAFS has been going strong after 5 years.

I did this with my first mark about 6 years ago. I got a CEL instantly. I switched back to the stock setup after a week.
