Is this high enough?

I have done my 2 on my own personal car and enjoyed taking them out through the top. I have done them both ways at about the same time frame.

You can take your motors out from the top if thats what you prefer,I find it far easier for me to drop it from the bottom like the factory service manual recommends. With tranny still bolted up, this is by far the easiest way to go.

It DOESNT have to. I have done plenty out of the top.AS long as the trann is off it comes right out the top.
No one said it would not come out from the top with the tranny removed, of course it will. DOESNT take a genius to figure that out,but with the tranny bolted up,bottom is the ONLY way.

The 4 cam is just wider but similar.Thats probably why he brought it up.

No it's not. I dropped the engine and tranny in my 94, connected as a unit in from the top.

so How much is the nose off the ground lets say from where the bottom of your license plate holder (sould be) whould be to the ground. how long do you think it took you from jacking the car up till you step back, exhaled and said "well its out!"?

Oh BTW congrats on the "Rip" part now the fun thing comes with the "replace"

umm I jacked up the car yesterday but didn't unbolt anything.. and today it took like 2 hours to drop it down, ball joints took a lil bit to get off. I figure after that and jacking it up more.. took about 3-3-1/2 hours total.. not too bad for the first time.

What are the plans while its out? Not bad at all for your first time...
I blew my 96 motor, no idea how but it eventaully seized, probally a rod or something deep in the engine I was told. at least a quart of oil blew back into the intake.. when I took it off oil went everywhere. so thats the story behind this.

I plan on putting a 97 mark engine in place of it and while the engine is out throwing kooks headers on and getting a custom exhaust. My original plan was to build up a motor and get the best of everything, but for what I wanted to do, the price was way to high.. over 6-7 grand plus headers and a full exhaust. so I found a great deal on a 97 engine with 44k miles for $500 bucks. and thats what I've been working on for like 2-3 weeks now.

For the most part I've been working by myself, a few friends helped me drop the engine, and my one friend helped me with the exhaust. I put in a few hours per day(when its nice) and don't kill myself. it also gives me time to buy the parts I need cause I don't have lots of money. I say all together I've put about a soild weeks work so far on the car. probally another week or 2 to get the engine back in, then another week to get her running. but we're having house construction so idk how much I will be able to work on the car. I wanna get it running by the beginning of may, middle at the latest.

Thats scary stuff man, quart of oil in the intake, damn! How many miles were on your 96? Good deal on the new engine at least, just the labor now, priceless... Good luck, you're half way there...

I don't care if you put it in from the top using a shoe horn and a bottle of KY lube,I'm talking about REMOVING the motor with the tranny bolted on,that's what this guy is doing,NOT putting it in.Your one of the nay-sayers who said the Dodge Magnum I beat didn't have a Hemi in it,how would you know? why would you doubt it? I don't B/S about the cars I race. :bash:
