Hi everyone, Im the new guy here so i will be posting a good bit. I have a question for ya'll,,I have a 2000 LS8 and when you floor it it will run up to about 4500rpm and start jerking, but you can let off of it a little and it will stop jerking and shift...is this some sort of a limiter?

Welcome to the forums. Yeah, its a rev limiter. Only when the engine isn't in gear though; Park or Neutral. I thought it was 4000... maybe I was wrong. These guys know more than me. Two things, about this forum. First of all, I've been here for probably over a year, but I have maybe twelve posts. Thats because these guys are probably the smartest and most knowledgeable people you'll ever find that know about these cars. Its also because I use the search feature. Almost anything and everything that will go wrong, has gone wrong, and they've talked about it, and probably fixed it. So sit back and make yourself at home, don't forget to buy any and all parts from Max at Five Star, and make sure you search coils and window regulators before you make a new post about it. Again, welcome, and have fun.

The neutral rev limiter is around 3000rpm, not 4500 (it will also kick in if you've lost traction, like when you're on ice). The stock rev limiter is around 6500rpm, but since you say it's shift when you let off, I don't think you're hitting either rev limiter. It sounds like you have a high-rev misfire; failed COPs are not uncommon on the 1st Gen LSes, and can cause this. If you search, you'll find lots of threads covering problems with COPs and misfiring...
