Ok a brotha is now in need of a tune up for the 1988 LSC she's starting to pop and studder on me and act like she wants to shut off while idling i know its been a while since she has had a tune up from doing almost 2000 miles back and forth 5 times each way from NJ to TX..

Ok anybody with any suggestions. i already had the oil changed about 3mths ago.

what do you want to know? I would change the usual (plugs, cap, rotor, wires). I would change the wire mesh filter in the manifold under the pcv, change the pcv. Clean out the TB and the IAC (possibly change the IAC) and check out the TPS. Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.....possibly run some sea foam through it and change the O2's!

Change all the usual like Jibit says plugs , check the battery , check the alternator make sure its charging sylonoid if its good or not , check all your hoses make sure your not leaking anything check your fluids such as power steering etc...... just the basics brakes all that stuff

cool i have a new battery . and alt. is charging fine. i will have my mechanic check for leaks as well. while he puts the KYB G-2 struts and shocks on this weekend. I just want to have all the tune up stuff with me as well so he can do that while he does the suspension

This is what i'd do.

Make sure all your vacuum lines are hooked up, etc.

Run seafoam through the engine.

Then- Clean the IAC and TB.

Change plugs, air, fuel, wires, pcv, pcv screen, cap, rotor, fuel injection cleaner.

That should do it.

This is why i love this site all this good information i am all over it guys. Gotta keep WHITE FLASH running smoothly

Not to hijack the thread(it is relative), but how exactly would I set my TPS? There was a good link on here a while back that was very descriptive, but I cant find it..

Here's some of the parts I used.

Fuel filter, air filter, Motorcraft oil filter, Motorcraft copper plugs, PCV valve and grommet (take out and throw away that screen), check vacuum hoses, clean or replace the IAC motor, clean the EGR spacer/valve, cap and rotor and you should be good to go.

Wow.
So the common denominator here is:
correct fuel path
correct spark path
correct air path.

I love it when we're all on the same page.

John,

I like the way you think! When the weather gets a bit warmer here in Va. Im gonna get after that EGR system (though at the moment I have no issues with it). Enjoy one of those Philly Steaks for me! :) Lincolnlov

I used to live five blocks from there.

Dereck and Jane from England have eaten there.

Whenever anyone visits me I try to take them there.

Words do not begin to describe how good the are.
