Well since Ford owns lincoln and jaguar and the ls and s-types are very similar. why not ask here?!?! I'm thinking of getting a 2003 jaguar type R.... dont want an s-type since everyone has it.... and come on 400hp v8 supercharged :p But anyways just wondering whats the issues with jaguars? How is the type R? For parts wouldnt they be ford parts because i remember my buddy always got ls parts for his stype. Any opinions and suggestions would be great.....

Jaguar Type S is based on the same platform as the LS. I don't think the type R or any other Jaguar has anything in common with any Ford/Lincoln/Mercury.
Ford no longer owns Jaguar. They sold it off a while ago.

Even with the S-type, probably well under half of the parts interchanged with Ford parts.

Those Jaguar S-Types are ugly as sin, in my opinion.

Get a proper Jaguar - XJR!!! :D

+ Freaggin 1!

Even the X-Type looks nicer! I love that car!

I think the S-Type R is sweet!! I used to work at an auto auction and I've been in a couple of them- Very nice cars.
The regular S-Type does nothing for me though...

So ford sold jag, is this the reason ford stop producing the ls? I've always wondered why they stopped making them.

The reason that Ford gave was that they weren't selling enough of them at a high enough profit. Apparently, they felt they could make more money off of the non-performance FWD models that they have introduced after the LS.

My next big purchase well be an XJ-R, freakin gorgeous rides.

you should really look at the new Jaguar XF. starts around 50k but i think its an awesome ride. base model is a 300hp 4.2 L V8 and the upgrade is a 420hp supercharged 4.2L v8.

actually i just looked at the 03 type -r ...they look real nice man and they prob helluva lot cheaper than a new XF LOL. very nice choice if u get that type r.

If you like the XK check out the 2010 XF-R. 510 HP. Best looking four door available right now IMHO.

S-type R is fine, but XJR is the ride! It's faster then the S-type R too, bigger, aluminium body, looks way better too.

Man i could chime in for a while here. . . Ive been working at a Jaguar dealership for going on 4 years. The x-type is nothing compared to an s-type v8 or xj. The x-type is a great car for the winter climates bc of its all wheel drive and boy is it a tank. The v8 s-types are very nice cars but i wouldn't want a v6. The s-type r's are pretty fast ive drove countless numbers of them. The seats on the other hand in the R are a bit snug for me, once you have sat in regular s-type seats you would be able to tell the difference. 2004 and up xj are incredible vehicles regardless of a supercharger. The literally are so smooth while driving esp on the thru way. The new xf which im looking at right now being at work is a very different plat form for jaguar. This car is NOTHING like the replacement for the s-type. The supercharged xf is redic fast and nimble. In the fall they are coming out with the xfR which will be a 5.0 L direct injected supercharged motor. 510 hp and it beat the dodge viper in a downhill course not to long ago. Well anyways its time for me to go home but if you have any particular questions i would be very happy to help.

My bro has an S-type. It was nice when he first got it but now he doesn't care to much about it with having a family and all. He used to beat me on the highway but now with the mod's I have I could probably take him... I think?!:shifty:

my friend has a jag type s i like it a lot its very classy and the smell in the interior is amazing after 6 years idk i like it the type r is really nice and worth the price for what you can get em for now they do 0-60 in like around 5 seconds fast for a luxury and dont have to go through all the trouble on makin it fast thats more than adequate speed imo

thanks for opinions guys....love to have the XJ guys but i dont got 50g's lying around HAHA.... im a student and a 04 jaguar type R is pretty damn good for a 20 year old kid with an ls too...lol. Besides my cousin has one for me for 16k canadian 2004 jaguar type R 60,000km

I would say go for it, the S Type R is awesome but repairs will kill you. The R had problems with condensation building up in the supercharger and then injecting that water into the combustion chamber which causes rods to bend. This is coming out of a Jag dealer mechanics mouth, not mine. I almost bought a 2005 STR before I bought my Speed6. That was the deal breaker for me.
