I'm having a problem with the stock JBL system in my '93 where some tweeters will randomly cut out or just decide not to turn on for the day. Sometimes I'll only have the 2 passenger side speakers working, just the front passenger, or both back speakers and the passenger's front.

The driver's front tweeter hasn't been working for the past couple months tho, even after I replaced it with a known working one. So I dunno about that one.

Every bass speaker works fine tho and never cut out. Could it be the amp or something else?

I had a problem with the right tweeter cutting out for a while. It was the speaker connector to the amp. I re seated it, and had to move the harness a bit, and it was fine then.

I'm not trying to hi-jack this thread, but I have a quick question. What size are the stock tweeters? I'm wanting to replace all of my speakers, and I haven't taken the door or side panels out yet to measure the tweeters. Thanks...

Not sure how to correctly measure a speaker. About 2'' across the cone?

EDIT: It's a little under 2'' across the cone and 2 1/4'' overall. (from diaphragm to diaphragm)

Had the same problem in my 94. So i bought a 50 dollar walmart amp ran new wires threw all speakers, used the amp to power the lows and let the head unit power the tweeters. really sounds amazingly well...only problem i have is the cheap amp overheats when its a hot day and will turn its self off.
