JL 12W7 with JL 500/1 amp.

Thanks for whole lot of pictures man. I'll try the 500 first and I'll see how I like it.. I want the sub to be showing, but I'll see what the install guy can do. I do not want anything fancy, I want something that will sound good and can be easily removed, in case if I sell the car.

I do have 2 Alpine V12s for the mids and highs. I have 6 Infinity speakers and 2 tweeters, so I am not gonna do anything to the mids. Also the 500/1 is a mono amp only.

I can't wait to get em. Thanks for all or you people advices.

also.. the w7 RMS is way too much for that amp.. u may just blow the amp.. the W7 is more pwerful that the l7's and im running a 1300 watt amp..


u COULD buy the 1000x1 and use the 500 for mids and highs.. jus an idea..




also, as far as boxes.. are u goin to show the speaker towards the rear.. or towards the inside of the car? all wood.. or do u want to use plexi glass.. or fiber glass.. etc..

That is the same setup I have. I had a MTX 1500D mono amp and it pounded. I just put a 500/1 and it hits even harder. Goooooooooood call man!

I'll try man, I bought em on Ebay. The amp is shipped, the sub is not yet. I hope I get em soon. Yea I think I am gonna install it before the meeting. I talked to the guy already whose gonna do my box. I don't know if I am gonna get a sealed box or a ported one. I want it to hit loud but more I want it clear. I'll see.

I think those MTXs and the W7s are on the same level, no?

Yeah I think they compare the 2. Either that or the L7's. I hope I could make it to the meet. Peace.

Whuchu think will sound the best.....I know this thread is for hylife but I'm trying to setup my system too so maybe u could help me out. haha I wanna put some plexiglass in there..........what do u recommend as far as which way the subs face? does it matter? don't know much about systems.

as far as the plexi glass.. usually ppl use clear plexiglass because they want ppl to be able to see threw something.. u can have the speakers face up with the box made with a 3/4 inch plexi and the interior of the box lined with mirrored plexi.. that would look hot..

OR u can get the speakers and face them in.. if u face them up i would port the top deck.. if u face them if u dont have too cause the sets go down.. so anyways.. u can get something like an audiobahn speaker.. face them in.. make the side of the box facing out of clear plexy so when ur standing outside ur car.. and u see inside.. u see mirrors.. the speakers magnet.. and u can get lights in there too.. my OLD set up was kinda like that.. if u see two diamond shapes above.. the only thing is that i messed up my beauty board so it looks cheasy.. but u can see inside and the magnet of the speaker..

Question for those that already have subs in the trunk - What do you do about the spare and battery access? Did you modify anything to make them accessible or just hope nothing goes wrong?


I have a Diamond Audio D9 15" sitting in my room, gonna start shopping for a custom ported box soon and wanted to get some ideas. I'm thinking I may mount my 3 eD amps and digital xover and cap to the box so pulling it out will not be easy by any means.

That custom box won't hold this sub very well, plus I'm porting, don't want sealed.

does any one know if the 00-02's have a higher rear deck then the 03 and up models. i have an 03 with 2 12's and i built the box myself. Its 14 inches high and does not fit anywhere other then the cargo space it wont slide under the rear deck. Does anyone have any suggesstions on how to do this?
