Hi all. I joined up since I have been using this site to do a lot of research on this Mark VIII and on on I had prior. I help to build passenger planes during the week and always work on my own cars. I always want to buy cars. It's a sickness really. I got this 95 Mark Viii while chunking through Craigslist. Bought it for parts with intentions to install everything into a 1947 Ford. It sat for years under pine trees with the air ride system deflated and 4 flat tires.
With new battery, oil change and fluid fill up I started it after towed home and put new compressor for air ride in. Looking to get LS wheels for it. Fired right up smooth. No cluster action yet. And a.c. compressor getting replaced bearings were toast whole pulley glowing red! New plugs and cleaning up everything. Small brackets have rust so taking off and painting with epoxy with primer suspension paint. Removed water bypass tube for paint and pick up new Orings at Ford dealer tomorrow. I have it up on airbags now was lucky they are good. I have a week of paid holiday still left and want to drive this in to work.
I still have no activity in the cluster. The gauges seemed to work for the first start but nothing after I fixed air ride. Fuses looked good. Luckily I have flawless black interior. Or will be flawless after I change the ashtray/cup holder wood. I already have them. I have parts from a car I stripped and bought for parts last year. I still have to replace exterior passenger door handle , replace antenna, reassemble coolant items and finally take it for a drive around the block to assess driveability.

I want to also say it did not look like this when I bought it. I used RainX brand bug and tar remover to get all the tree sap off. It took me about 6 hours. Spray let soak in scrape with old credit card and abrasive rag to clean and using old used kitchen sponge. Was very surprised that it looked good afterwards. :dj:
I am unsure about the transmission. If it is not good I think 1998+ Crown Vic is the way to go non police.
I am also getting 2000 Jaguar XJ8 all fixed up driveable project. And 1985 Box Truck with 460 last tabbed 2001. Just finished 1994 Mark Viii February with complete interior swap and front clip collision repair. And daily driver is a 2014 Elantra GT AND 2003 Mazda Tribute 4x4 winter rig.

your wheels are on wrong

And unfortunate update. Guess now head gasket is bad. Smoking and water in exhaust after doing tune up and oil change. Anything I can do other than put cobra cam in it? Plan is to pull motor and trans and put 98 Victoria trans in and send heads to machine shop. I will ask machine shop what I should do to the heads to help. And take intake in to get polished inside.
