Just bought my first 02 LS

Hey LVC! i just picked up a ls with about 55 thousand miles on it, she runs like a dream! but the A/C blows out hot air and there's a thumping hollow noise commin form the back right wheel when im on a bumpy road i don't know what the hell that noise is commin from! and the front fenders put big chips in the fenders from the tires rubbing. the guy i bought the car from has 20s on it 235/35/20 and the stabilizer bar on the right side is not on there..would that cause the tires to rub? could you guys help me out with my problems? i only bought the car for 3grand, im not worried about spending money on the car to get her looking good again. BTW this is exactly how i got it dont get on me about the rims and the chrome stickers

that sway bar link will cause it to lean more, so when making a right turn, it would lean and hit the fender.

Thanks and the suspension thumping you have any idea what that coould be its sound like the shock is bad or somthing...and the aluminum lines that run from the trans cooler to the tranny are kinda smashed closed including the one from the ac...you knoe where I can order those online?
 
That thing looks beat to hell... I am sure all the fenders are junk, the front bumper looks jacked up.

Not sure I would have paid 3K, but if you are willing to fix it up then go for it!
 
That car it beat the :q:q:q:q up for only 55kmiles. You need to prioritize you repairs. For example, you'll definitely want to replace that front sway bar link before you fix that fender. I'd probably want to fix that thumping sound before the A/C. Do you only feel the thumping sound or can you feel it also?

I'm glad you're not attached to the rims because they look like a$$ IMO. Maybe you can try to trade them so something better looking and maybe smaller.
 
check out C-list for cheap parts. I've seen some fenders on there for cheap...recently.

The thumping noise in the rear is probably a bad shock.

Try Rockauto.com for the lines you need.

I notice you are missing the chrome strip that goes to the front bumper. If you want one. I will give my old one. You pay the shipping and its yours.

Sell the rims. Go with some 19's 245/35/19 tires. 19's are the prefect size rims for our cars.

Welcome. I dont think that was a bad purchase for 3k, expecially with only 55k on it. an engine with 55k would run you close to that. The fenders and bumpers are easy cosmetic fix, just replace if it's easier. I think you found a great deal right there. If I saw that for 3k in my area with only 55k, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it!
 
RollinLS i think thats a gen 2 bumper look at it really closely the moldings stop and dont go through the front of where the grill is, the GEN 1 molding goes all around the from side to side but GEN 2 moldings are only on the sides and not the middle and also i think there is space between the molding and the headlights also indicating that this is a GEN 2 also is it missing fog lights. if you want i have the gen 2 sport wheels if you want to buy it PM me if you are interested. also get the swaybar and i have 20" RIMS wth 225/35/20 and no rubs whats so ever.

It looks like that in the picture. But he says its a '02. The '02s were still a single chrome piece. I am thinking he might have the year wrong.:confused:
 
Dude just said to hell with the swaybay link lol. replace that first, it's easy.
 
Welcome to LVC!

Looks like the fender and maybe the bumper has been replaced. The fender looks like a different color, and may have a "LS" fender emblem... possibly implying a '00-'01 fender. Looks like a '03+ bumper. The wheel looks to be sticking out past the fender, implying wrong offset. Sway bar link needs replaced and those wheels should probably be removed before fixing/replacing the fender.

Need more pic's all around.

Edit: Also your A/C issue may be caused by a bad DCCV... it's a common issue.
 
Thanks for all the input and its a 02 i think the dude i bought it for changed the front bumper because it don't line up right and its loose. But im going to get that stabilizer link fixed and buy new fenders before i get new rims. appreciate the help tho folks!
 
I think it's a good buy as well. And welcome to :V . At least you got a better welcome than i did :)

I got a bunch of smarta$$ remarks from ppl. Cause i asked about my a/c blowing hot :rolleyes:
 
man 3 grand, that's a great price I think! Would have bought that in a heatbeat. Sell them rims and get some 19's and fix the fender and she will look great! Like some other people said, C-list has a lot of wrecked LS's and you can find a lot of good parts on there for cheap.
