just got back from dealership after tranny flush...

i just came back from the dealership after doing a tranny flush and a diff flush....

so far so good...is there anything i can check under the car that would make it known if the services were actually performed or....pretty much anything to actually let me kno i didnt get jerked???
 
Funny you should ask. Dateline caught a Jiffy Lube selling a customer on a complete transmission flush and when Dateline gave them the OK to do the job, Jiffy Lube brought the car in and never did anything but hand the customer a bill when they rolled the car out. All proven with a hidden camera. I'd like to know why so many business are out to screw people out of their money today.
 
You left the car there? Maybe you could've seen them start doing th work and actually taking the fluid out.

wuda cuda shuda but didnt...i was late for work so i just dropped it off....i kn ow all about the dealership and mechanic scams and all that. i worked at a jiffy lube couple years back but even we didnt do the stuff that they show on tv.

what sucks? i didnt say i got jerked im askin what can i check to know i didnt get jerked. since the ls doesnt have a dipstick or a drain pan like other cars...and since it involves using equipment that i dont have to check the fluid level and determine if it has been changed or not.
 
i took my 00 to the dealer for a trans flush and i noticed a difference in the shifting, it was smoother. especially downshifts. from 5th to 4th my car used to hesitate and make a slight noise, not anymore. i've got 1000 miles on the flush now and 12-13 1/4 mile passes and it seems ok. i was a little nervous about flushing for the first time at 142,000 miles but so far so good. if the transmission dies i'll rebuild the trans and that'll give me a reason to install the TCI 3000 stall convertor at the same time.

The first flush ever on the car? Or since u had it (if ur not the original owner)
 
I would take a peak under the rear of the car and see if the bolts of the diff have marks on them from being wrenched on. Our cars(or at least mine) don't have drains on the diff. I suppose they could have sucked most of the oil out but that's not going to get all of the oil. A tranny flush they usually take a cooler line off and hook it to a machne that puls the old oil out and puts fresh oil in so you would have to find that line.

Also, what do you mean you don't have the tools to check your fluid, is there not a dipstick on the automatic LS?

If your transmission fuild is anything other than bright red then I would change the fuild. If t smells burt then it's way past due. Generally every 30k miiles is when you servce an automatic.

Nope, no dipstick on the LS. There wasn't enough room in the engine bay. I know you all will say there is, but not when the factory installed the body to the drivetrain.
 
i actually noticed a couple of differences in the tranny. Tranny shifts slightly better, enough to notice a slight difference. The most noticeable difference in shifting is when i shift from drive to park or from park to reverse or drive. before the flush it was kind of rough, sometimes i was almost scared to shift since i thought it was stuck or something, but now it shifts like a baby.
 
Damn. Y'd yall wait sooo long to do a trans flush lol. I still need to replace this f*n seal
 
i did it a year after i got mine....i got it at like 67k and i did it at 83k...wasnt necessary just for the peace of mind since after 100k its not really recommended...but that seal is sunthin i wud fix immediately so you should get to it...
 
I bought the seal and a gasket already. I have a mechanic to put the stuff in. Jus waitin on the right time for him to do it.
 
shift changes are subjective. may or not mean anything.

bolt inspection is probably a little more objective.

my understanding is that there is a transmission sensor in terms of average temp and maybe some other stuff. it'd be nice to access that after an alleged change.

i don't know why they did this for the tranny...

but, there is no dipstick. that's for sure.

also, my shop cannot service this transmission correctly. they can 'drain' it, but can't replace the filter because they don't have the tool. moreover, they don't service the rear diff; which is part of the trans service- in terms of replaceing the fluid.

this is gay...
 
WHOA. That's entirely too long for me lol (here comes a 'that's what she said). I'm tryna stick to the 30k'ish after my trans is fixed

not the origional owner, i think the service manual says flush at 150k. i didnt do my differential fluid yet because i'm planning the 8.8/3.58 rear end swap soon. if i bought this car new i wouldve done a flush every 30-40k but getting it with 90k i just let it be till recently.
 
exact same thing happened wid me. brought it too the dealership,
saw them take it in, but didnt see them actually do it, waited around for 2 hours an im startin to wonder if they even did it cz of this thread :shifty: the
guy at the dealership said every 30-40k
