Just got word on 98' with 57k on clock for sale

White
98
LSC
garage kept
low miles

The Mark I dream of... ('cept in me dreams, mine is sensor lowered, has chrome 10-spokes and no 3rd cat... that is all)

Looks great and i would take octastars over any other stock wheels.
The octastars also are the most rwd looking wheel.

I just saw a white lsc with octis in south amboy a few minutes ago. I wonder if it was this one.

Nope came from Somerset right off of Rt27 about a half hours from my house. Then I zipped over to Somerville to register it and now 2 Marks cluttering up my driveway :roll eyes:

So here are the minuses so far
Drivers side rear view mirror is starting to go bad reflective surface wise
Chips on the grille paint
Blend Door is stuck on HEAT and it's hot out
Tilt function does not work on column
Has squeak under hood but has new idler pulleys and new belt
CD changer don't work but Alpine will be going in tomorrow anyway
Tires are WAY over inflated...

Could also used a good exterior detailing

OK for some reason my 98' didn't come with a COP engine?

Still unsure of the rim deal and yeah I know they are on backwards on the Silver car

Another problem is the lack of heated seats :(

This caught my eye at my dealership(302)

Lastly this puppy that I want my old man to sell his SL an get this instead :D

Another problem is the lack of heated seats :(

They're nice when they work. My drivers side was still emitting some heat till about 140k, don't think the pass side ever worked. I just replaced my heated panel w/ a non heated panel and ziptied the connectors.

Lovin' the new mark though. You gotta expect some issues for 3k. :) Should be another fun project for ya.

You want him to buy an Avanti?
Oh Hell Yes, the Benz is such a nightmare to work on

This Avanti is SBC powered so I would have absolutely no problem doing anything engine wise on it. The SL has a occasional studded or miss and with the mechanical Bosch FI I am lost. Haven't been able to find a Mercedes expert that has been able to diagnose it either so I want this Grey Market car gone :)

Funny thing is when I bought my Silver 98' the guy had installed new heating pads in the drivers side. The light lights up but it never seems to warm up? Pass side warms right up and when my back went out I would go out during lunch at work to sit in the pass side.

Friend that got me this car wants me to take my heated seats setup and swap it into this car so I will have every option. However my seats are shot in the Silver Mark and the ones in this new Mark are like new :D

Regardless of the minor issues, NICE SCORE!
nice color.
nice wheels.
nice location.
i think you did well.

Yeah and no on the minor problems tho
Silver Mark had 87k when I got it and pass seat heater didn't work. Plus a few dings in body work with scratches.

Now White Mark with 57k with traction control off will hardy chirp tires when I mash the gas. Silver car will lay rubber for 10 feet. Column switch does not function up and down and that piece ain't cheap. Handling wise it feels a ton crisper but that could partly be the over inflated tires :roll eyes:

Then this irks me and I have to repair these chips. Kinda thinking this is a replacement grille and was a crappy paint job :shifty:

Yeah it sounds like I'm whining but I only paid $200 less for this car than the Silver one and it needs quite a bit more repair in my eyes from the get go :(

It's going to need a lot more if you keep mashing on the gas. That car has probably never been beat. If you start abusing it, it will probably start to fall apart. Enjoy it for what it was built for. It's not a race car. As far as the grille goes, mine was never repainted and has the same chips around it just like yours. I touched it up with oxford white then dabbed the proper pearl color over it. You can't see it unless you're looking for it. It really is a nice low mileage car. Best of luck!!

Gotta kind of disagree a bit cause it's not like I floor it from every stop but I had 2 Marks before this. They both lit up the tires to the point of being a pain with the traction control off. Heck my Silver one was no rocket but was able to do a 15.1 when I ran it with 130k on the clock. Turned of traction control mashed the gas and chirp with this one  That is also with over inflated tires so I can only hope these Goodyears get real good traction?

That and my other 98' led a somewhat easy but banged up life and the grille is still like new at 138k. The paint on this car seems to be it's weak link so far visually. I gotta go get some pix of the beyond perfect interior :D
