My keys were lost/stolen... at work. Can the stealership cut me a key to start my car with my VIN? Or can they just cut the key w/o the chip?

The PATS in the car will have to be programmed to the new key(s). You're going to have to tow the car to the dealer.

call a good locksmith, for about $150 they can make a key from a blank and program the PATS. you do not have to go to the dealer.

ya but a tow is $65 and a key (my buddy works at the stealership) is at cost... way less that $150 but still a pain in the ass

The dealership doesn't need the old keys; they can just make new ones and use their diagnostic tool to tell the PCM to recognize them. IIRC, the PCM can remember eight keys, so you'll want to have the dealer use the diagnostic tool to erase the codes for the old keys. It might not be a bad time to look into having the locks re-keyed...
