Hi lincoln fam! I have a 98, key fob just stopped working out of the blue, tried new batt still wont work, so i can't even start the car because the anti theft will not allow it, i tried to cycle the key, tried to program another fob from my 97 tc, nothing! So how do i go about fixing this? I read you can unplug the scil, but i want my alarm! So how would i go about programming the fob from the tc?

Only problem is, i don't know my code for the door, AND IT'S NOT ON THE TRUNK HINGE

Well if you don't have your car bible, head to your local Stealership, I'm pretty sure they can run your vin and tell you the code

Should also be on the module itself, which is located behind the glovebox, on the right side. You'll need to remove the cord of the glove box and push the tabs on the sides inward and the box will drop down

The code could also be on the DDM inside the driver door. You'd just need to pull the door panel off and the module is close to the sideview mirror.
However, having the code label on either module is a 50/50 , some have it, some don't.

Not sure about a gen2 but on the gen1's the code is also on the switch that you shut the air ride off in the trunk.

yeah the older cars had the code listed in more places. i think they quit putting the stickers on gen 2s.

also, there is no relation between your key fob, door code, or anti theft problems. they are all independent of each other.
although i'm not real sure whats going on here. its kinda vague..

Vague? You huffin paint?

He's trying to program a remote, his original remote doesn't work even with new battery so hegot a new one. He doesn't know his door code, therefore he can not do the fob program sequence. The code is located in a possible 4 places o/in the vehicle, trunk hinge, SCIL, DDM, or the Owners Manual

On a Gen1 the code can be found on the SCIL (but its located just forward of the air ride switch ) Gen2 the SCIL is behind the glovebox

The fact that he has no remote should have no affect on the fact that the car will not start. Since the remote quit out of the blue and the anti-theft wont let the car start, I would say his multiple problems lead back to a common failure... Anti-theft module or a relay. You can throw your fob in the trash, the car should still start.

I dunno how I missed "car won't start"

OP: when you turn Ign to Start, does the AT light on the dash flash rapidly?
Before we blame the SCIL, get a voltage meter, or even a simple test light and test the Starter Solenoid for power during start. You'll need a second person to cycle the key while you're at the starter.

he said he tried to put a battery in hos key fob to start the car. that's not gonna get you anywhere. neither will unplugging the scil module..

I thought you had to open the door with the fob or the button pad to dis-arm it. But I also thought you could still start it but the alarm will continue to go off even while driving it. That has happened to my car before (gen1) tho. So now the alarm module rest in the trunk with my other spare parts and no more alarm problems.
Does the alarm module just keep you from steeling it because the horn and lights still work when trying to break in (when alarm module has been removed)?

Thanks for all the feedback, although I did not have a chance to play with the Mark today ( sons bday) but this really irritates me! I'm gonna call the stealer in the am and try to get my code, if that doesn't work I will just call a locksmith and let them go to town! Just had to act up in the driveway and not the garage! And its about to rain

@ spree, on the gen 2 you have to have the fob or code to disarm, if you don't have either your screwed! Car will not start if you are without code our fob, so frustrating, I can't even steal my own car :Bang

can someone please post the correct way to disarm my alarm, i can't fix my fob or find my door code, so i'm throwing in the towel and disabling the alarm for now. please and thankyou!!!
