KKM Tru-rev induction kit...

Ken,
Mark made it through his appendics surgery OK, he came out to the shop yesterday and hang out for awhile. Just as he was getting better I was working on my big shop fan and caught two of my fingers in the blade. Split the right index fingernail down the middle to the first knuckle to the bone and took a slice out of the ring finger that needed six stitches to put back together. We were laughing that we are going to be the "walking wounded" fabricators...
Enjoy your beer, we're deep into painkillers around here ..
Wayne,

It's good to hear Mark did well! Sorry to hear about your accident. Seems you are glutten for punishment.

LvC members...I want to introduce Capt Zorro...aka Wayne! He's the one that makes the great stainless steel cold air intake tubes I sell on my website and the pictures above are of his Lincoln LSE. He's the man to talk to about fabbing some boxes. If you guys can sweet talk him into making them then I can sell them on my website. Between him and his partner in crime, Mark, they are very talented in what they do.

Wayne, it's great to have you on here and I hope you get better.

I am in the makes of one with fiberglass. Any Ideas to help on design of it?

This is how I did mine. Plexiglass and some tubing from Autozone that runs down to the grill.

Well those air boxes looked so good i decided to make one myself.
And I decided to route the air from under the license plate to the air box...
Good idea? ...
Anyways it ran pretty good but I had to really mash the gas pedal to get it above 3k rpm. I'm thinking not enough air was getting to the air box?
I took the top part of the airbox off. And now it runs a lot better but now the filter is hot to the touch. Which I guess I'm fine with since it's still running better then just the KKM
What do you guys think?

I'll get some pics up soon.

well, i just did the "ghetto" filter trick with just drilling out more holes in the air box and taking off that terrible tube. i run 3" metal duct found at home depot in the bath fan section. i ran it up the the oval hole and cut and screwed it in so it wont fall out. i also tried to make the metal duct do a plumbing trap type bent so if water gets in there i wont fly up to the filter. took it for a ride and boy what a difference already!!! i didnt believe it when i read it on the forum but man its true how much of a difference just that makes. i can imagine all the other mods

also, my machanic has a cousin that owns a machine shop and i want to make my own cai. what size filter is it? also what filter to you guys recommend?? thanks!!!

i love this forum!

What size hose/tubing are you using? If it is smaller than 3" it is restricting air flow for sure.

I think it is 3" ID at the MAF, so with just look for a 3.25" filter, or 3.5" depending on the pipe thickness. I have a 3.5" filter with a polycarbonate 3" ID/3.5"OD tube attached to a .25" acrylic sheet. Only thing is polycarb is expensive, I was lucky to find some scrap at a local plastics supply.
