Welcome sir/ma'am.

That one Ben posted is the best one you can get. After you buy it get with Hite on here and buy his heatshield....well worth it.

I make the cold air intake heatshield to go with that intake system. The heatshield will give you a true cold air intake. $40 shipped to LVC members.

Did you ever get the gen 2 shield tested hite?

Nope. Lsemex was the only one to fit one in but he bent it up by using the factory air box bracket. I asked him to try it without the bracket but he never got back to me. And noboby else took me up on the offer to try to fit one in exchange for a free heatshield

And how much for non-LVC members?

$55 for non members on ebay. Its $40 for you. PM me if you want one

Definitely can't go wrong with the Hite Performance heat shield set up.

I'd be interested in getting this look going, what would it take ?
just go to town on it with steel wool or something ?
just scuff up the chrome finish on it with something abrasive ?

I just did a light sanding to paint mine, I used some 600 if I remember right off hand, it was nice and satin.

0000 Steel wool should do it too.

yeah, right on, it wasn't a lot of work before you got past the chrome coating ?

did it end up looking like the pic above ?

I sanded it down in about 10 minutes.

I almost left it sanded...but I wanted it blacked out.

When I can afford aka get it with out the wife knowing....the heatshield I will paint it black too.

Edit: I bought mine off ebay..it was the one in a thread that was heat wrapped. Under it was in pretty darn good shape...but there was no way a big chrome thing was going under the hood.

BTW...i stole that one on Ebay....thanks LVC!!!

10 minutes, ok, good, doesn't sounds like there is a thick layer of it.
I may just very well sand that down.

And I by no means sanded through it..I just roughed it up.

In fact there was some glue on it, after I used some Naptha to get the residue off it was still chrome under it.

I almost thought....um I could have used some tape, made a Lincoln emblem or something, sand everything matte and removed it, it would be nice and shiny...nope...black that sucka out!

hmmm, interesting .... "BIGRIGLS" in chrome on my scuffed down ASMI intake. hmmm ?
