I keep hearing info about back pressure. If you drop the resonators and OEM mufflers on a V8 LS and add flow master 40 serious mufflers will you lose performance?

rocket5979 said:Why would anyone want to put such a loud and musclecar-ish muffler on a luxo car? It just doesnt seem to fit the cars style at all! A nice tuned exhaust with some rumble is fine, but not the 40's. I have a custom exhaust with the 40's non-delta flow and I love their sound on the vehicle I have them on, but not on an LS. Subtlety goes a long way in a car like the LS.

Anyways the non-delta flow 40 series muffler is the louder one, the super 40s and delta flow 40s are quieter.
rocket5979 said:"LS's are becoming a common car, how many LS's have you seen sound like a Mustang - (I haven't seen any)."
There is probably good reason for that...
Thats your choice...
Everyone has a personal preference and are fully entitled to that, but some mods are just plain offcolor or dont match the vehicle. Putting a superloud muscle-car exhaust onthe LS would be the same as putting a 6" cowl hood on a Honda Civic. Not only does it not match the vehicles style but it also doesnt accomplish anything additional. What I am saying is that IMO it doesnt seem to match the personality and classy theme of these cars. Common or not, they are still luxury cars and thus to avoid ruining that natural theme, offcolor mods may want to be avoided. Bottom line is, stick to what your car's good at. Civics usually cannot uphold the musclecar-ish theme so why try. Musclecars cannot uphold the luxo car theme so why try. The same goes with luxo cars trying to be a ricer or a musclecar. Now a sleeper or something not outwardly seeming to break the mold is a different animal which I wont even attempt to outline or discuss. All I will say is sleepers are cool!

rocket5979 said:EXACTLY!!! Then get a car that better matches your personality! Get a real musclecar and put a loudazz xhaust on it. Putting a 40 series muffler on a lightly modded LS is RICE/REDNECK. You might as well put a ball hitch on the back and haul around a trailor made out of an old Ford truck bed while your at it. Give me a break, it seems that your the one that is providing the humor here dude. Just make sure you complete the theme correctly and get a mullet to top it all off unless, of course, you already have one? lmao...
Soulworkout said:Wow, this is getting heated. For the record, I’m no redneck nor do I have a mullet. I just want my car to sound mean. It’s seems the LS would sound a lot like a Cobra which sounds like a modern day muscle car. I’m sure the design of the 3.9 32V motor will sound tamer than a modified 302 or big block. I own a super modified Mustang with a 472 crate motor which fits the Muscle car attitude. There is no law against Flow masters on LS.
