I rented a Lincoln LS while on a business trip in CA. What a surprise! The car was a joy to drive. Handling was superb, acceleration was fun...again, the car was a joy to drive.
So....when I returned to Ohio, home for the time being, I bought a brand new 2004 LS, 6-cylinder that had been on a local dealer's lot for just about a year. Overall, the car is OK...certainly not what I remembered the rental being...but a good car nonetheless.
A bugaboo has arisen, though. Now, whenever I drive the car over rough road, not potholed roads, mind you, but less that smooth roads, the car's right wheels, both front and back, sound as is the shock absorbing systems do not work. Lots of clunking and hard, metal-to-metal thunking.
The local Lincoln dealer, the place where I bought the car, replaced anti-sway arms on the front. Steering is much tighter now, if you can believe that it can get any tighter, but the aggravating noise and thunking continue.
Has anyone else experience this problem? What did you do to correct it? Better yet, what did you tell the service guys? They don't seem to believe me for one minute!
Thanks.

Your problem sounds like ball joints to me. I'm assuming the dealer checked those?

Also, did you rent a V8 LS? That would explain the difference in acceleration with your V6.

Your best bet would be to find a road close to the dealer where you can duplicate the noises and go for a ride with a technician and show them.

Most of the time with noises its not that ''we'' dont want to fix them, its just the fact that we can only spend so much time with the cars and cant drive them all over the planet, so we might not hear your noise.

We dont really ever have any complaints about noises like that on the 03 up a LSs

Welcome. I am from the Cleveland area and have a 04 LSV6 but didn't run into this problem. Few others but not this one. The techs at the dealership think I am crazy with as many times as I have my LS in the shop, but each time, they find something wrong. There is a big difference between the V8 and V6 too.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. The car goes back to the dealer later this week. I will have fingers crossed that the noise is present when the technician is in the car. Outside of this one issue, the 6-cylinder has been a good ride!

Definitely post back what they find out at the dealer. This will keep everyone else informed if this were to happen to them.

Yea I had the same problem with my front suspension the ls is in the shop again the the 50th time lol not on warranty! But yea they said it was the ball joints so they are being replaced rite now. Let me know what your problem was so if I still have the same problem I know what to tell the stealership
