longtube headers?

Which ones?

There are a lot of long tubes out there.... Like long tubes for a Camaro won't fit for a lot of reasons....

I was thinking about dropping the subframe and modifying the cheap flowtech headers... I made some one off headers for my buddy's suzuki samurai with a chevy 4.3 vortec and that was a tight fit. Im thinking if I get rid of the rag joint it might be possible.

If you have a welder, torch, and ball peen hammer you can make anything work... I want to delete that damn rag joint for better steering feel anyways. It's a good upgrade one way or another.

Well I guess if nobody has tried it I might as well. It shouldn't be too bad. The samurai was a crazy setup... I compared picture of the longtubes vs. kooks and they don't look too far off.. I'm mostly worried about the starter and steering shaft clearance.

Just start heating bending cutting and tweaking... I'll be very interested if you try this.... I'm planning on doing headers sometime in the future. Also if I get headers for a 96-98 Cobra with my Cobra intake I won't have to fab an EGR tube, that would be kinda nice.

265 bucks for the headers from summit or jegs... I might just go for it. I dont have egr and 02 sensor wires wont be a problem extending if necessary.

The only ones I know that were modded to fit with the least work were a set of BBK longtubes for the 96-98 era Cobra.

I've got a set of the kooks that alot of people said are the greatest... What I am wondering is what headers can you use if you swap to "c" heads???

It's well known that the shaft needs to be moved....

yeah, everyone says a new rag joint and a small section of shaft is all you need. but thats not going to move the shaft enough to fit. the shaft has to move ATLEAST 2 inches over. everyone that says that hasn't done it, i have tried, a taller or shorter rag joint just isn't going to work.

Lol... you have to put a joint form a place like Flaming river in the middle of the shaft.... Just because YOU can't figure it out doesn't mean other people can't....

You can see why, here...

C head exhaust ports are just a wee bit bigger and i believe kooks accounted for that....

99-01 C heads have the same looking exhaust ports as B heads. 03+ heads have little bigger and more square ports then early heads that's why they flow so great on exhaust.Kooks headers have very similar openings as 03+ heads so they'll work well on any year 4.6 Dohc heads.

few pictures

B heads = 93-98 Mark VIII,96-98 Cobra

C heads = 99-01 Cobra and Continental

03+ C heads = 03-04 Cobra,03-04 Mach 1, 03-04 Marauder , 03-05 Aviator
