the low engine coolant warning keeps popping up on my message center. but the coolant level is where it should be. and my car never gets hot. i was wondering if there is a possiablity that my thermostat could be screwin up. Thanks for any help

I've been haveing the same problem, except my Gauge drops out as well...

my car does the same thing i think ita a flaw in the senser itself in the coolant housing i had a 96 tbird and it did the same thing it only does it on a cold start :)

It could be vapor lock.

I havent fixed this myself, but you can try this.

There is a coolant tube that runs by the alternator. it has a valve on it. Open the valve and fill as much as you can. Replace the cap.

Make sure the reservoir is filled to the line as indicated. Then start the car.... Watch the reservoir and make sure it stays at or slightly above the line.

Two different issues.

The low coolant warning is from the coolant reservoir being low.

Eratic or high or low temperature readings are from the ECT(Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor in the crossover tube - either because of a fault, air in the coolant system or an actual overheat condition.

In my experience - when the message center says "Low Coolant" - it is too late, you will have air in the coolant system and will need to properly fill and burp the system - NOT just refill the reservoir.
