The LS failed inspection..i got a diagnostic test and i have 2 bad Catalytic Converters...i was told to not to get universal ones which would be the cheaper route..so for the others it will be 854. Parts & labor is that too much??.

it doesn't appear to be too much. I have seen 2 cats and labor anywhere from 1100-1800. It seems fair to me. You may want to get 2 or 3 estimates and also have the shop test to make sure both are bad, unless you already have..

Another thing to consider, most times catalytic converters fail because of other issues. Immediately after repairing cats, be sure there are no other issues causing the cats to go bad. Hope this helps.

yea i got them both checked..they both need replacing..i was wondering insteaded of getting cats would a full magnaflow exhaust system cause my check engine light to go off after installation

yea they are bolt on application..the labor is about 170 the rest is all parts..i could get some from autozone but its a possibility my check engine will stay after installation..thats what the shop told me.

I just did a full exhaust system done, 2.5 piping with universal cats with muff and tips + x pipe for about G note cash. I was in the same situation you are emissions test and one bad cat so I did the full overhaul

really? Thats what i was wanting to do but im afraid of it not resolving my problem. Id rather pay 8 or 9 for an exhaust system than just two cats lol..they make any for v6?..

I'll be the first to bet he has marginal/failing COPs.

i had two "bad cats" after my nitrous back fire...... fixed my intake manifold and the cats worked great

yea im confused i dont want to spend 850 and it be something else..i'd be pissed..but the mechanic told me thats what it is..i will ask them tomorrow what if they install the cats and it doesnt make a difference

I have universal cats off of eBay and they work excellent. It took about 2-3 days for the computer to "re-learn" them and the MIL went right off. I did an exhaust and have about 550 into it. I didn't replace the piping though. That much of stainless was out of the question.

how is your car running? Is your engine running smoothly and your MPG in factory spec range? if not,you need to solve the issues that resulted in your cats being destroyed

what was the NOX? belive it or not i went into a smog once and my nox was at 4k(gross poluter) so i sat down and thought about it and one thing came in mind....octane booster....i went back and left a clean emission vechile the next day i have the paper work to prove it....this wasnt with my lincoln though

my car runs fine it sounds like its straining a little when i press the gas and its kinda loud..could the wrong fuel type make my cats go bad? The girl that owned my car b4 me used the wrong fuel a couple times..

So, nobody's going to mention the 8/80 Federal emissions warranty? I don't know how many miles you have on it, but an '05 is less than 8 years old...

you could always save some cash and buy the sticker here in jersey you can buy them for like 75 bucks

:shifty:nuhh uh that would be illegal!!!!!!:shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty::shifty::):p
