If it's a McLaren grille, it's 100% fer sure and fer certain that it's not a factory package (as if there were any doubt). The McLaren LS project fell through because Ford/Lincoln wouldn't help them with the PCM...

I am going to make a bogus badge for mine. Lincoln LS RS for the chevy fans that could not afford an SS. "2002 Lincoln LS Rally Sport 33/150 all origonal except for dash badge."

I am an old Ford racer, but I have to say that the term GT (Grand Touring) as used on cars was around a long time before Ford started identifying models with the GT designation. Just as GTO was a Ferrari designation long before Pontiac used GTO to identify one of their models.

Last summer I seen a 3.5 liter "Hemi SVT" Charger. Had the snakes on the sides too! Mopar Hemi AND Ford SVT combined into one car??? Gosh it must have run 8's in the 1/4 bone stock.
I could have a cheap little badge made for my LS and make it a "SS".
Personally, it looks goofy without the front fascia done to match the rest of the kit. If you have one of these, keep the badge on the car. For shows reasons. It makes it RARE. Keep as much of the documintation as possible. We have all heard of "Yenko". This is how "rare" collector cars get started. Limited edition runs at dealerships. Granted, nothing really cool was done to it. But the documintation is the key to making it rare. Only 200 made. Its rare. Like it or not. It could be worth something down the road. Just my $.02.

i recently purchased a 2001 "ss" ls. doesnt actually say ss but the badge on the dash says super sport. didnt but it because i thought it was gonna be faster or anything just liked the way it looked has a diffrent uper and lower grill same front bumper as a regular on and razzi side skirts and rear bumper.just lettin you guys know they do exist

i didnt take the time to read all the post befor the original one i posted but after reading them i think who ever said these supers sports were dealer made is probably correct. i dont think theres any reason for dissin the super sport name and i certainly am not a "sucker" for buying it as the badge was not the reason for me buying it. p.s the upper and lower grilles are not mclaren grilles but are similar to them.

Lincoln never made an SS LS. Some kinda cheap dealer add on crap package probably, but never made that way from the factory.
Seems to me we went over this about a year ago anyway.

It was a sales gimmick. Jeep dealerships do it all the time, they put on a cheap ass dangerous body lift and some 33" tires and call it a special off-road edition when no Wrangler from the factory came with more than 31" tires.
It's supposed to make people feel like they are getting some exclusive and special. It can be the nicest, cleanest upgrades in the world but in the end that's all it is... a ploy for a dealership to con the car off on someone who thinks they are getting something more than they really are. You can go trade that into a Lincoln dealer and be like "Hey I got a special edition here, I want more on trade-in" and they'll tell you to shove it up your ass, that it's just a dealer gimmick and give you regular trade in for it... then they'll turn around sell it as a special edition trying to make a larger profit just like the first time it was purchased.

Northern Indiana is the RV and Manufactured Home capital of the world. There are a ton of companies here that do van and truck conversions. Dealers purchase vehicles from the factory and send them to converters who then do all sorts of cool upgrades to them. Actually, some are cool. Some are ridiculous. The dealers then sell them. Often with strange badges, graphics or whatever on them. The factory supports this process and the factory still covers the warranty on the base chassis. This program has been on the decline due to gas prices, SUV's gaining popularity over full sized vans, and the factory putting in more luxury items in their standard models. It is the same method used to create mobility vehicles (vans for handicapped drivers).
So, I would not be surprised to see a dealer doing something similar with an LS. It may be tacky (using SS), but it isn't out of question.
