I had the camera out today while I was replacing my DCCV. Here is a quick shot I took of my baby, and the LS.

Looks warm there, snowing here and expecting around 18".
 
Yeah I did a 5 speed conversion a while back. Wish I could do one on the LS! It is like 80 degrees here right now. I replaced the DCCV because I was getting heat insted of air!

Noticed the boat? It is actually a Key West CC. Dont laugh, they are made in North Carolina.

A lot of people aren't fond of it so even though it is a mustang (common as a mofo) I almost never see a 71-73. A lot of people like it today that hated it in the 70s.
 
71-73 was kinda overlooked. But alot of early 70s cars were with hp ratings dropping with lower compression motors etc. 71-73 is not nearly as hated as the Mustang II. I have some of those.

But that is definately the one to have in that body style. And the interiors were quite cool with the dash kinda falling away from you.

True--With the non-retracting shoulder strap I can barerly reach my radio, or AC controls. 71 was the last year for good HP numbers.
 
Man, you guys make me jealous sometimes, actually being alive when those classics were new. I'd just about kill for a 69 Boss 302.
 
Nice stang! Looks really clean, i wish mine was. Heck, i wish mine was drivable. School got harder = less time for working on cars. Heres what she used to look like:

Eric: Whats that plastic bag that says Ford in your engine bay? Is that for washer fluid? They didnt really use a plastic bag instead of a proper bottle did they? :eek:
 
yup, thats the washer fluid. It uses a manual pump that looks like a pedal by the brake. How hard you push is how far it squirts.

Its unbelievable how simple these machines were.
 
Great '71!! I had a '71 Boss 351 (1 of 1807) in yellow and black. Being a FOMOCO kind of guy I couldn't help but notice the name scjmc. Does the scj stand for Super Cobra Jet ??

That is actually a coincidence. I never thought about it that way. Now I am even happier with my username. Thanks for the compliments guys.
 
You got some thick tires Scjmc!!

Thanks for noticing. Funny, an old buy at work once said that back in the day the cool thing was to raise your car up with air shocks/bigger tires etc, and now the cool thing to do is lower them to the ground. I went with the classic rear end raise, and I always loved big tires. The rears are over a foot wide. I like big tires in the front too because I dont want to make the car look like a drag car. They are smaller, but still meaty. The mustang is 10 years older than I am.
 
Nice Combo! I have a similar combo....06 LS and 69 Mustang Mach 1. My Mach 1 was my first car bought back in 75 as a second owner. It has been in storage since 86 and currently awaits a restoration. I hope to begin that process later this year.

I noted you have a 5 speed....stick I'm assuming? I'm seriously thinking of pulling the automatic in my car and modernizing it with a 5 speed. I will also be updating the engine compartment with a stroker motor. Did you have have much difficulty with the trans mod? I want my car to have a very stock looking appearance, like yours, yet with the amenaties of more modern performance options.

The trans mod was not to hard. My car was actually an automatic car, but it absolutely ATE autos. I burned up 2 C6s (origonal trans type) and then converted too an AOD 4 speed. All that required was a differant cross member, a carb linkage adaptor, and a driveshaft yoke change. I burned up 13 AOD transmissions over a 6 year period. Now I am using a Borg Warner World Class T-5 5 speed manual trans. It weighs just 85LBS compared to the nearly 400LB weight of the AOD. I had to shorten the drive shaft and clearance the shifter opening (just a little). Modern Driveline sells a clutch cable kit and the crossmember that work with the T5. I got a set of pedals from another stang in the junk yard. The only other thing is that the imbalance of the flywheel/flex plate are differant with newer engines. You need to make sure you get the correct imbalance flex plate. With the 5 speed transmission (and some engine mods) I run POSI 3.88 gears with big tires and still get about 19MPG hwy. Thats with close to 400HP.
