LS V8 Reliability

Only cause no one wants a V6 :p

However my V6 has no problem with leaking V/C gaskets to screw up my coils,
no transmission problems has all the options and better fuel milage.
So go and fix your V/C gaskets and while you are at it replace all the COP.
Good Luck and have a nice day.
By the way also have a look at your DCCV with the hose outlets for the useless coolant pump outlets that go nowhere. Ford installed this extra pump to keep your V8 running at a reasonable level, without this pump you most likely will overheat you well designed V8.
Now go LYAO :p :p :p

Currently looking for a used LS for my daily driver (around 20 miles roundtrip). Trying to keep it under $10k and I'm seeing alot of high mileage cars for sale. I have no experience with the 3.9 - lots of experience with 5.0s but I know very little of the 3.9.

What are some key things to look out for with the v8, and also with the LS in general?

Thanks!

First let me tell you I love my LS6 Lincoln but you would be better of with the5 liter Ford engine, IMHO that is the engine that should have been fitted in the LS. ;) ;) ;)

First off, ALL LSes have a DCCV. It's part of the dual-zone climate control. Also, ALL LSes have the same cooling set-up.

You better get some information as the V6 has a total different cooling system and do not use the auxilery coolant pump and the DCCV is different from the V8's.

Actually you are both wrong.

V6 and V8 Gen1 both use the same DCCV MOTORCRAFT Part # YG355 {#XW4Z18495AA}

V6 and V8 Gen2 both use the same DCCV MOTORCRAFT Part # YG378 {#2R8Z18495AA}

Both Gen1 and Gen2 have different cooling systems for V6 and V8 naturally because the motors are totally different with only minor similarities.

If I am not mistaken, the V6 actually has two cooling systems, one outfitted for the auto tranny and one for the manual.

I realize you directed that at Velo, but I've only been here since April of this year and this is my 79th post. Other than my couple replies to you I think they've all been productive. So I fail to see your point... :D

This information is wrong wrong wrong. If you quote p/n's make sure you get it right so not to confuse members.
For 2 gen LS8 the DCCV p/n is XW4Z-18495-AA
and for the 6 cylinder the p/n is 2R8Z-18495-AA
the working of the DCCV is the same for both but the V8 DCCV has 2 outlets for the auxilery coolant pump, don't ask me why the V8 needs this coolant pump but I believe without it the V8 will overheat another reason I like the V6
:eek: :eek: :eek:

Please I cannot even make out what you are trying to say.
One thing I can say I have been on this forum a long time but had to change my sign in name last October.
The reason I am on this forum is only to learn more about my car ands hate to see wrong information from members who do not understand what is going on with their car.
